Just got a call from the dealer at Si Khiong Star Sdn Bhd (Jln P.Ramlee
dealer) - The Pulse just arrived. I actually wanted to see the Passion but
that model still not available. He also confirms that these unit are not
the old batches of Smart cars offered at other luxury Sport Car's
Showrooms.

May be going over later today to check out this unit (if weather permits),
but will arrange for a test drive later on. Told the dealer I was
definitely not interested in the Cabrio unit (never did liked open top
cars in Malaysia for obvious reasons) and now that the dealer has seen the
Pulse, he agreed with my reasons Big Smile Mind u this is not to put off those
who likes Cabrios, juz my personal preference.

He says the difference between the Pulse and the Passion lies with the
frame (?) huh? Dats it? Anyone here knows what other differences there are?

According to the brochure and www.smart.com, Pulse dun have aircond but
Passion do. According to the dealer, all Smart models in Malaysia comes
with Airdcond (due to our climate).

Frown Pity Passion ain't here yet, I would have luved to see a side by side
comparision.

For those who has test drove the Cabrio units, anything I should be
looking out for? In fact, since this may be my very first "really small
car", anything at all I should be aware of when I am test driving her?

I thought the Passion had wider tyres at the front and rear? I read from
its official website. I was thinking of switching to wider tyres if I
could one day afford it.

Do take note, some Pulse come with moon roof to allow you to enjoy the
moon at night, and also the sun at noon.

Pulse : So called Advantgarde Version

Comes with foglamps but no frost sensor for the air cond, interior color
aso diff from passion

Passion : The so called 'Elegant' Version

Comes with much nicer interior, if not mistaken, steering is leather
wrapped, no foglamps but aircond comes with frost sensor.

Wheel size is the same for both versions, the rear ones are wider den the
front ones to give better traction due to it being rear wheel driven and
rear engine. Both are 15". I think that's about it, cabriolet is only
available for one of the versions, forgotten if it's pulse or passion, i
think its passion.

I am getting cofused. First when I surfed www.smart.com, I came across the
fact file of Pulse and Passion. In the fact files, both versions were
stated different sizes of tyres and wheels.

The Passion came with 145 for the front and 175 for the rear. The Pulse
came with 175 for the front and 195 for the rear. I believe both versions
had nothing to do with Brabus.

Please have a look at the website, look for smart for two coupe and under
fact file.

Yeah, you are rite karboo, as mentioned, the passion is the more 'elegant'
version thus it has 145/6 R 15 for da front and 175/55 R 15 tyres for da
rear which comes with "styleline" alloy wheels whereas the pulse comes with
175/55 R15 for the front and 195/50 R15 for the rear and comes with
"coreline" alloy wheels. From the comparison, it's clear that the pulse has
lower profile tyres thus contributing to a slightly harsher ride as it's
the so called 'sporty' version, the BRABUS may be worst as it's having
175/50 R16 for the front and 205/45 R16 for the rear and comes with
"MONOBLOCK VI" rims.

The pulse and passion both share the same chassis and brakes/dynamic
handling control system (esp, ba , abs ,etc) and they are similar. Only
difference between the BRABUS and the pulse and passion are the 61bhp
engine for the pulse/passion whereas 74bhp output for the BRABUS engine.

Differences for the tridion safety cell is, pulse only has BLACK, passion
has silver and black(OPTIONAL) and the brabus has a black cell if it comes
with black body panels, and silver if you get silver body panels.

Foglamps are standard for pulse and the brabus...the other differences are
mainly the interior..according to the brochure, the pulse and passion and
brabus are on the same engine, for the pulse/passion the max boost is at
0.8 bar wherease for the brabus it is at 1.0(1.5 overboost). That's why the
engine has a higher output for the brabus...correct me if i'm wrong Smile

it`s smart enough to take your money. This car was and still is a joke in
Europe where it was hatched, so like most tech failures in "first world" it
ends up being sold in third world countries, such as bolehland! 85K??? you
gotta be joking daimler chrysler!

Ryoga,
not making fun of those who can, i worked in europe for a number of years,
and believe me, it's generally considered to be a joke! my opinion is that
it's bought by the same kinda makebelieve people who buy "slimming creams"
from smartshop.
