hey all! i m new here...i joined because this place is the only place
where i can discuss about my new 'wife', modenas elit 150...i look forward
to sharing info with y'all regarding the scoot....i need help regarding
mods i.e bodykits, digital meters, exhaust and all...hope u guyz can
help/comment on the matter:

1. i saw some nice digital meters online-made in taiwan-anywhere in
malaysia that i can actually buy these meters-especially KOSO brand?

2. tyres-i saw some michelin pilot sport and pirelli tyres with the same
size as the elit...where can i get them? buying online would cost me about
400 per pc!

3. exhaust-design not essential...i want something that functions i.e more
pick up especially...where to get ah?

the above are some of the areas i need help in....fyi, my elit 150 was
bought last month...has done 1,000 + km....and boy, i m enjoying the great
pick up, and cornering ability of the scoot...but sadly, cornering
hampered by the tires lah i guess...kalau hujan, very licin!and max speed
for the tyres is only 120km/h!

happy riding! hope 2 hear from y'all!

hi knine

I just bought my Elit 150 last 2 days. Haven't tested the top speed
because it's still in break in period. Actually this is my 3rd
bike, during my early 20s day, I use TZM 150 as my daily commuter to
college, during my secondary school, I use 1980 Yamaha Cup 80.

After 2 days, already travelled 189kms, my verdicts are
- suspension quite hard, can't absorb properly
- pick up is good ( almost 11Nm torque )
- braking is good, but not quite responsive...maybe need to upgrade the
rear drum to disc..and change the original pad to higher grade.
- meter panel look ok, but I miss the engine temp gauge. Maybe my next
upgrade will be installing engine temp.

The stock tire are Continental, a german tire group..so to me it's
ok...same level as michelin/pirelli. If you have time, try to browse thru
Sentul motorcycle part centre.....my friend saw pirelli selling for 185
per unit.

Check ou my modenad elit 150 page below.

hehehe! new owner like me lah bos! hmmm, i agree with your comments on the
suspension...but on smooth roads, foooohhhhh, handling very good lah
bos...the weird thing is...kalau ada passenger, baru the suspension feels
good...u tried??? also agree on braking....even though i use both front
and rear brakes when braking, the scoot still does not stop fast enuff-
(for me lah!)

hmmm, rear brake can upgrade to disc brake ke??? kalau boleh, tell me
where u got the disc brake lah...

as for sentul motorcycle parts centre...hmmm, boleh cakap which shop tak?
i usually go down to kl...nanti boleh beli!

thanx for the info bro!

hi bazet n knine,

same goes with me..i'm also new elit owner (already clocked 982km on
milegaes) a few more to complete the break in..cool..regarding the
comments on my elit pls go to 'Just bought new elit' thread in this
forum..to make it easy i'll paste it below:

"comments on my new elit 150:

1. stability is very good compare to VS
2. cornering is very good
3. ciloking in between car also very good
4. engine smooth (no much engine braking when u release the
throttle..this is cool)
5. front n rear brake handle giving some sound when u on the uneven road.
6. side mirror looks like loose
7. seat a bit hard n give a 'tik-tik' sound when you adjusting ur seat
position.
8. storage a bit smaller from VS.
9. pick up is powerful even i'm not trying pushing to the limit but still
can feel it."

regarding the rear disc brake...if u get one dun forget to inform us here
where to get that stuff..since i need to upgrade the braking
system..looks elit has more power...max speed i have hit to date only 90
km/hr...since still takut to hit too much..still pantang..

cheers!!!

Haven't check the rear disc brake upgrade for Elit..will check at Sentul
if have time. Going to do service for my first 500km at Shah Alam
Modenas....how's the flow there ? Alwayc packed with ppl or have to book ?

For current cure to braking system, try to change the brake fluid to DOT4
High Temp type..and replace the brake pad for EBC..I dunni whether EBC for
scooters sold on our shore.

Have you guys tested the kick start yet ?

hey baz, tell u wat, before u blow alot of cash on rear disks, try this..
change ur brake shoes to high temp brake shoes instead.. if im not
mistaken, it should be blue in colour..
please note: high temp brake shoes are NOT racing brakes and are more
expensive, but the grip is much better. racing brakes dont do squat.
give em a try. i dont know about drums but i hear for disks, woven
material is better..
i think i read that on the thread here in AW.
for meters and stuff.. try reading the previous threads..
i`ll look for them if u want but will have to take some time.. coz my
company is having an iso audit this month so abit busy.
and a question goes out for all of u.. i hear vs125`s can be fitted with a
digital meter. can this meter fit my rg cos i heard it is the same.

regards.
vy.

ps. one more thing i fergot to mention: hard suspension is actually good.
one thing modenas (or any malaysian motorised vehicle producer) has done
right for a change.. this is because the faster u go, the harder u want
the suspension to be. specially round corners.. if its too soft, when u
hit the 90 (degrees that is), ur rear will be bouncing up and down lifting
ur tyres off the ground and "buang-ing" u to ur first (hopefully last)
accident.

Dear Baz,

have done my 500km service at modenas glenmarie..no need to book since
i'm coming early in the morning...open from 8.30 am n i arrive at 9.00 my
bike is the first one...they only change the engine oil, and i ask no
need to change the transmission oil, then the mech said no need...i think
based from manual stated that on 500km service need to change engine oil
n tranny oil...how lahhh...will there any effect later? anyone can share
their servicing experience no matter at modenas or normal shop...

btw the tyre not giving a problem to me since i feel good using the
continental tyre..(manufacture by sime m'sia actually since conti bought
over sime n dunlop in m'sia)..good cornering, stable etc2..

Just some tips..

1. before starting a journey, warm up the engine.. 1-2 minutes in open
area..otherwise..the exhaust gas will be trapped..

2. don't switch off the engine immedietly, wait 1-2 minutes idling..to
make sure all the engine oil going down, same principles for turbo
engine..for longer engine life.

3. use higher RON fuel, luckily in malaysia, standard fuel is rated
RON97..as in the manual said to use 91RON as minima rating. If you're
using Shell Engine oil, try to stick on Shell petrol too.

good advice man..
i agree...
if ur engine has been off at least 1 hr, u should warm it up.
and when ur idling, should cool it down..
