Dear forummers, need to be extra careful nowadays as there are too many
bad ass ppl out there. Last Monday (14/7) I left my bike for an hour
outside Tesco Puchong, parked at the parking lot infront of McDonald and
behind the ticket attendant. Went inside to buy some groceries and about
an hour later I discovered my bike has gone....without trace. Damn!!
But somehow, I aint feel disapointed at all. maybe little bit on part
I use the bike to travel from Puchong to my office in PJ. bike was cagiva
stella and the thief even took my helmet with it. I did lock my handle if
u asking.
I'd used superbike, easyrider, cupchai, streetbike before.the only type
of bike that I havent use is SCooter. I already booked a Karisma. Is it a
wise choice? Question

Jangan cakap kapcai.. ZZR250 aku dulu pun pernah kena cilok...

If you took up a 1st Pty/Comprehensive insurance coverage, you should file
a claim. Only got 3rd Pty? You're sh!t outta luck... sendiri tanggung.

You must make a police report within 24 hours (or was it 48), take the
report to the insurance agency and file a claim. The insurance will wait 2
months (if I remember correctly) in order to let the police search for it.
A lot of stolen bikes are recovered within that time frame (biasakk la..
lepas kena barai, diaorang campak tepi jalan ler).

If the bike isn't found in 2 months, the insurance will proceed to write-
off the bike as unrecovered, treat it the same as a total loss and you
will be reimbursed the market value of the bike or the sum insured..
whichever is lower, of course.

If the bike is found, the insurance people with treat it as a stolen-
recovered - you'll need to engage a workshop to get the bike out of the
police compund and assess the cost of repairs. The insurance will also
engage an adjuster to provide an independednt assessment of the damage and
cost of repairs. Then the insurance guys will decide how much they'll give
you to repair the bike (the offer letter)... usually not exceeding 75% of
the sum insured or market value, whichever is lower.

Expect the whole procedure, from theft to offer letter, to take around 3-4
months.

I know. I've been thru the claims process several times (unfortunately)...
