InitialD,
Kudos to those RC car manufacturers... but my angle is if you are good,
there's no car you can't handle. I must admit having three cars would be
nice... hehehe

moat, the Serpent Impulse or RC gas cars for that matter CANNOT be
categtorised as toysThat is sacrilege to associate GP cars as toys

2. 1 car come with serpent centax, the other with trinity, r they
interchangeable?
3. can i use 705 brake bracket on the impulse? i want to buy the
adjustable rear sway bar.
4. part differences between impulse/705, chasis, battery, fuel tank, upper
deck,middle bracket, anything else?
5. i want to convert to lola body, which part to buy? r they on impulse
option list or other car? (i dun want to buy lola front bumper for
impulse/705 coz the body mounting is not good, which car bumper is
compatible?
anything else i should know?

moat, my answers below;
1. Just that the owner kiasu. What some people do is when their original
graphite upper deck cracks, the get a new one and instead of throwing away
the old cracked one, they use it back instead and make the double layer
construction for more rigid construction.
2. I would think the contruction of the Trinity and the Serpent Centax
would be about the same. I may be wrong but the basic principle and parts
are the same. Just that they may come with different sizes or the springs
used are harder / softer.
3. You need to modify the brake plate a little to accomodate the side
stiffener that goes on top of the rear bulkheads. You need to cut and
shave the 705 brakeplate (actually thr brake plate originated from the 235
mm Impact) so that there is space for the screws from the stiffeners to be
fastened onto the rear bulkhead. Please refer to this nice article on
mytsn on how to modify the rear brake plate. It has clear pictures and
illustrations.
http://www.myrcworld...bl.asp?pid=5865
I actually have not seen the brakeplate part being sold separately. Maybe
that part seldom people require and rarely breaks.
4. Download the Excel sheet on the 705 product page at mytsn. It will tell
you the differences between the 705 and the Impulse.
Besides the parts you listed, the rear bulkheads, the rear ball diff and
rear dogbones, the Centax II clutch (pinions remain the same as per the
older Centax I clutch), the lightened 2 speed gearbox (spurs different)
with the 2 speed main axle, engine mounts, internal pulleys (pulleys same
number of teeth (hence same belting) as the Impulse but different mounting
style), shocks (different assembly style), side (left and right) carbon
graphite stiffeners and spacer for the front shock tower are the parts
that are different on the 705. The front section is almost the same as the
Impulse PRO besides the addition of the small spacer for the front shock
tower and the optional adjustable servo linkage.
5. You must understand that some parts of the 235 mm Impact and even the
1/8th scale Vector / 950 cars are interchangable with the Impulse / 705.
In fact some of the 705 parts enhancements come from the bigger brother
Impact. Take the pulleys and the rear ball diff for example. they came
from the Impact. The adjustable rear sway bar (909335) that you plan to
put in comes from the 1/8th scale Serpent cars.
For lola body conversion, you need the bumper (808121), the rear floating
body mount set (808150) and the rear shock tower from the Impact.
BTW, can I know how much you paid for both cars?

firstly, thanks :)
1. upon furhter inspection, the servo mount is cracked but i dun think
i'll use the twin upper deck construction.
2. i just worried abt the spur/pinion spacing, but i think it will work
3. i have read the conversion article before but it is using impact
brakeplate, i thought 705 is using a different plate and can fit stright
to impulse - no luck there
thanks for the rest of the info
i dunno how much the car is, the owner said he is selling it at 40% of its
selling price of 16++? i dunno coz i paid 4k for 2 impulse,1 s5, 1 x12
rody,1.5 pipe set, 2 ko mars r, 1 ko charger, 1 serpent starter box with
3000 batt, 1 rolling toolbox, toolset, vernier, duratrax real race car
simulator, hudy tool, hudy setup kit(no board or gauge), air compressor,
spares, etc. the car is in a reasonable condition but dirty, i need to
restore them (luckily i enjoy fixing thing). actually not really
interested in the car (as u know i already have a hpi and v1rr with lots
of spares) but i figure its cheap enough and i'm actually wanting to buy
some of the item included, the rest i'll get rid at my convenient :)
why u ask? wanna sell your impulse? cheaply? i'm all ears :)))))
thanks
