I know a lot of people here are into 1/10 touring.. so I think we should
have a topic about things that are not run on tarmac.. heheh..
amacam.. orait tak?
So for the first post, I want to share with you the project I`m doing
right now.. which is a monster truck. It`s basically a combination of
Tamiya TXT-1 chassis, a Tamiya Clodbuster gearboxes and uses Kyosho`s
Nitro USA-1 wheels. So 3 in 1.. Dont know how its gonna run and perform as
I have yet to complete it..
Click on the URL for pics.. If you have any question dont hesitate to ask..

Here's a bit of info about the monster truck project..
I bought a Tamiya Bullhead (the same as Clodbuster accept for a few things)
sometime in November 2000. Build it and run it hard, but the plastic
chassis just cant take the abuse and started to crack really bad at the
link mount even with the chassis braces. After some reading and research
through the net I decided to make a custom clod.. but the project was put
on hold since I got other commitments i.e got married, have a kid etc.
So the truck was left gathering dust for almosts a year.. and in January
2003 I started the project.. off with the plastic chassis and I bought a
new aluminium TXT-1 chassis and a new Tamiya TXT-1 cantilevers to replace
it. I stick with the Clodbuster gearbox as it's known to be very robust
and durable. I also want to use Kyosho Nitro USA-1 wheels as those really
look nice but the problem is I have to make an custom adapter for it to
fit the wheel hex of the Clod.
Most parts of the truck except for the chassis, gearbox, wheels and tyres
are custom made like:-
1) Chassis brace and aluminum link - made out of 1/4 inch aluminium rod.
2) Servo mount - made out of 1.5mm aluminum sheet and 6mm aluminium square
bar.
3) Battery mount - made out of Kydex
4) Top link mount - made out of 10mm half thread bolt and drill to the
gearbox.
More things that needs to be made:-
1) Body mount
2) Electronics mount plate
3) Cantilever links
4) Link clamp
4) Bumper
It's gonna take me quite sometime before I can finish it as I only do it
on weekends for about 1 to 2 hours and I dont do it every weekend.. wish
me luck

i hafta to lay my hats off to u for such efforts. btw i noticed MT is
customisable with a lot of imagination and money. i've seen this guy who
mod his truck to 4-wheel-steering !

Actually a lot of electric MT especially from Tamiya are 4 wheel steering
like Clodbuster, Bullhead, Juggernaut and TXT-1.. but havent come across
any nitro MT that are 4WS. The project truck im doing right now is
actually 4WS but I lock the rear steering to give more stability
especially at high speed. With 4WS it's easy to turn turtle..
I chose the Clodbuster/Bullhead gearbox because of the many ways you can
customize it.
I actually able to save more compared to when I was playing with 1/10
touring as I spend most of my time tinkering with it and the fact that I
dont run it week in week out Doing this truck is more like a long term
project for me, something that I do to relax and have fun..
