Hello , i need input from you seniors and all the gurus here.
If you have RM400 to spend on your serpent. Which one do you go for ? Centax clutch system or Ball Diff ?
All advice are welcome.

Ummm, does the ball diff alone cost RM 400? I think it is much less...
Nearly half the price of the Centax clutch. I assume this is Centax I...
For Centax II, you will need a whole lot of other things...
With the current high EURO exchange rates, the Centax clutch may reach RM
400 ++.

InitialD, thanks for the reply. I know the ball diff cost less than that , but i was thinking to put a max of RM400 for the upgrade.
Btw, i didn't know there's Centax 1 and Centax 2 !
WHat is the difference ? can you share ?
You also mentioneed that for centax we need more . I suppose that would be Spur gears ?
You input greatly appreciated.

LOL moat
Wajablue,
Centax II is specifically meant for the 705, 835 and the 950. You can fit
the Centax II (909510) on the Impulse. Just that you need to get the
complete new lightened 2 speed gearbox assembly set (902410) and the 2
speed shaft (801415) also meant for the 705 Yes, you also need to get
the flywheel separately as the Centax II package as the set does not come
with it. BTW, the Impulse needs a 38 mm flywheel (6579) and the 705 uses
the 35 mm flywheel (6581).
This is because the clutchbell of the Centax II that holds the 1st and 2nd
gear pinions are very close to each other. Both Centax I and Centax II
will mesh with the old 2 speed gearbox spurs as the pinions on the Centax
I and Centax II are the same. However, the clutchbell for the Centax I
holds the pinions slightly further apart from each other and aligns well
with the old 2 speed spurs.
Back when only Centax I was available, the Impulse used to have "problems"
with the Centax pinions not aligning with the stock 50T/47T spurs.
However, the Centax pinions and the stock 50T/47T spurs mesh properly.
The 1st gear pinion on the Centax I clutchbell will come out slightly and
will not align fully with the 50T 1st gear spur. But that could be solved
by changing the stock spurs to the spurs meant for the Centax which is the
49T, 48T and 47T meant for the 1st gear and 44T, 45T and 46T meant for the
2nd gear.
I don't know but you could try aligning the Centax II clutchbell pinions
with the stock 50T/47T spurs as both of them seem to be narrow and I have
a feeling they will align properly. I have not tried aligning them myself
though... Just a feeling. Good luck.
