Waja 1.6X 2002

Cost: RM380 (COD)

Time: Approx 1/2 day (but you can drive off and do other stuff / errands)

Speedo works while the unit was away from car.

yes function restored.

tested on the day itself before handover.

so far (since the week after Raya) - the ABS lights has not come on. So the
treatment works (or rather surgery).

after the surgery - must not wash the engine bay for at least 2-3 weeks to
allow the super-glue to cure as the housing had to be cut to have access to
the inner circuitry.

When the abs and brake light is both lighted on the dashboard, how would
one know for certain that:

1. the abs module is indeed defective and needs rebuilding; or
2. just the abs sensors are dirty or one of the sensor is defective and
needs replacing?

Thanks.

eljae,

Answer to question 1 takes lots of experience/exposure and practice to
come to conclusion. It also requires question number 2 to be answered
first in addition to many other considerations. The irony is - even a
computer diagnosis will not tell a technician the module is at fault.
Instead it'll claim the sensors are faulty etc. Sensors must be checked
to verify their health. Cleaning of sensors - contradictory to what many
believe, I tend to look at it as least of worry. It's true that the
magnetic sensor attracts metal debris and dust such that it may contact
the pulse ring. However, faults from this specific situation also shows
in a specific way. This is among those things verified before concluding
the fault lies in module. In any case, my best advice is to put the
headache behind you and dial 017-2721609. I'll bring your ABS system to
life within 4 hours.

Sent my modue in to KT last week. Got it back and drive my car up
Genting. no problem so far :)

The only thing is for 1.8, once the module is out, your tripmeter,
odometer and speedometer doesn't work. Also, if you were to speed (pass
90-110km), the engine check light will go on. Just to share.

Yes, the speedometer wont work in all cars (in addition to Waja 1.8)
driven with the ABS module removed. This is normal. It'll start working
once the module is reinstalled. This is also the reason why some cars
have speedometer completely failed when the ABS malfunction.

Kiamtiap: Only on some cars, the ABS module tend to last.
