Proton make ad like the car is damn great..
(Proton's baby)..

but its not really that great..

1. It looks like Gen2, but name is Persona. While we all know
Persona is the name for Proton Wira in UK.
2. The floating front gril is copy from Honda gril
3. The rear silver line finishing is misplaced. should be put
at the edge of boot, not center!

They should have made Persona as Neo Sedan. Then it will be great.
Im just waiting Jeremy clarkson to comment on this.

ooh well this kind of thread does exist from time to time

i dunno how many times ppl will keep saying persona looks like a gen2 but
with just added trunk.yes, even if one is using tiniest brain
available,it still looks like a gen2 because IT IS based on Gen 2.Whats
the matter with that??? and of course apart from adding a trunk, proton
also have improved so many things that ppl hate in gen2, such as no boot
outside release, plasticky interior, no glovebox ,door difficult to open
bla bla bla and combined with a little bit of facelift at the front (new
grille) and rear (new bumper complete with reflector).THESE changes are
quite alot, not to mention the structural design change to convert it
from hatchback to sedan. the parameters needs to be
calculated, simulated, analysed again ( strength, bending, vibration bla
bla bla). Judging by the amount of changes that has been done (which is
not a simple things than can be done by layman on the street) is it a
problem if it is called PERSONA? If one don't like the name and keep
insisting it looks like a Gen2 ,you can freely call it Gen 2 sedan....

asthetic wise, it is very easy to point out that certain design element
is similar to whatever car, but,as usual, asthetic is subjective.the
floating grill might look the same to the honda one with naked eye,but if
you really want to check whether it is the same or not, pls compare the
dimension, geometry and curvature of it.by looking at the emblem fixing
point alone, the way that emblem is attached and harmonise with the
floating grill, this thing is already far different from the honda
grill.this is the element that need to be use to determine whether
certain design is a copy cat or not.If there's a difference, then IT IS
DIFFERENT.

For some people, look is everything. It's a reflection of their maturity.

btw, Honda copied the Nicolaus Otto's engine design. So did Toyota......and
Proton.

Not one Car can please everyone around. Not one car is perfect in any
which way. Actual truth... human are too demanding & we are not totally
perfect ourself.

I would say..its good move that it was not name Gen2 sedan as it do not
want to associate with Gen 2 as produce by the old managment era. Moreover
they would greatly spend on improving the quality wise & performance of
the Gen 2 rather then spending more on the design which would not please
eevrone. Already long mentioned before the launch that it will be Gen2
Sedan. Most forumer knew & many is aware of such. Only blind critic donno
that.

come on, if i were the engineer/designer, i'll take people comments
professionally. ethics. and it does not mean i should change every single
things in the list next. i'll prioritize em.

why are you guys/gals so defensive? protecting em like youre the
engineer/designer in charge.

and to those basher, yes there are improvement to persona or gen2 sedan or
whatever-you-name-it. some i do like while the rest i dont.

clsiluf, 55k expect a great car? yes i am. i supposed most malaysian are
the same. and i am spending my sweat and blood to get that much money. if
you and your kind are so filthy rich forget about persona. go and buy merc
and bmw out there. 45k persona and 30k-to-come-proton-so-called-blm is what
people expecting. not a 60k wira! in fact, we are expecting good ratio of
car price for malaysian. WITH very damn good quality and not lousy build
with bad parts life span. wake up my friend. open your eyes wider.

a receptionist in uk can own a good sedan not like me an exec from malaysia
who can rent only a small car. damn!!!

proton is supposed to help malaysian. recall the earlier objective.

I agree that we have been brainwashed to think we need to spend big buck
for cars...hehehe..a brand new accord only cost from usd 20000 in US..for
us it should be the region of rm 80k,provided the proton never
existed. But,proton existed hence the politician have been cheating us all
this while until internet comes...

i have to agree with xstan on why the name gen2 sedan is not used. we all
know that Gen2 was also known as Wira Replacement Model. Persona is the
name used for Proton Wira in UK. there's nothing wrong with using such
name.

and i must agree with threadstarter that the grille is a copycat from
Honda City. well, such design is not patented. if you want ogirinal
grille design, go for Saga Mevavalve. ha ha ha nevertheless, the grille
does look nice. so what if its a copycat?

but i do agree also that car prices in malaysia is quite expensive.
imagine 160K for a Camry? and people who buys car with loan period of
more than 5 years are definitely and actually people who cant afford to
own cars. they must use m/cycles or public transport instead.

we are not suppose to compare a developing country like Malaysia with a
developed country like UK. the same goes to comparing with Singapore,
Taiwan or Hong Kong because of the relatively small size. no need to
built long road network, no need many police officers to jaga the country
and so on and so forth.

i am not bashing anyone btw, just sharing my opinion.
