so Toyota set the standard as zero defects but if got 1 is okay lah
depends on how you do the math from zero to one it can be 10% or 100%
anyway for proton setting the standard as 2 defects per car but if got 4-8
still okay lah, is it?

The idea is to aim & strive for no defects in as many cars as possible
which roll out of the production assembly line. This has allowed Toyota to
achieve as low as 1 defect per car. When striving for excellence, the
target must be set at the highest (although it may seem beyond reach), not
set at a level just below the highest.

i wonder how the designers feel
probably not their fault their design was to spec
but manufacturing keeps making extra features

To aim & strive for excellence / perfection, is an act towards improvement.
Toyota has aimed & strived for zero defect and has gotten down to 1 defect
per car. Improvement, no doubt.
Proton's Mohd Azeman said that Proton is aiming for 2 defects per car. Can
Proton get down to 1 defect per car and compete with Toyota face to face
in the global market with such a target?
I believe there was that recent news that Toyota has already displaced 2
of the Detroit big 3 to become the number 2 car maker in the US. They
certainly did not achieve this by accident, and certainly not by aiming
for only 2 defects per car.
