Not anymore with the Siemen ECU. You need the PDT2000 heand held to do
adjustment. I think the devise allows idling up to 875rpm max.

I will change the steering bush later not so soon but I will let you know
once it is done.

Of course I can not tell you for sure because no idea how bad this
vibration is or for how long it happens.. there could be a problem with
your aircon .. however, under basically normal conditions you can expect a
drop in RPM, a rough spot and a recovery or correction to happen when your
aircon comes on.. and then sometimes an increase in RPM to compensate or
increased timing or fueling.. but a noticable increase in RPM is not
mandatory for all cars.. this is normal.. look at it like this.. you are
walking along (idle) and someone drops a 10 Kilo weight on your shoulders
(aircon compressor on).. you stumble for a second.. realize whats up and
correct yourself and keep walking ..

I assume this is similarily happening when the aircon is switched off also?

yes .. but normally the ECU will sense a drop in RPM and it will increase
the fuel intake to maintain the power .

On most fuel injected cars, yes. Reading through the post you mentioned
yours is carb.. perhaps adjust the idle mixture a bit richer.. or as you
mentioned, just up the idle RPM with the aircon on if this is easy for you.
. I say this because most people here will have their aircon on almost all
the time.. and the "slightly" higher idle at the times it is not on isn't
harmful.
