Last saturday, i went to a friend`s wedding in Ipoh (abt 200km north of
KL). I drove back in my colleagues perdana V6, and there was this 318i
tailing from the back. I decided to let him pass and follow from behind
(let him be the "human shield", if there are any speed traps ;)).
The dude was driving at almost 180-190kmh,i suspect...
at 140kmh the Perdana is fine but as it approaches 170, you can hear the
stress on the engine...
In short, i had to let the human shield go...
and it was only a 318i... not even the new 318iA with the valvetronic
thinggy....

Are you sure a perdana can go up to 220kmh ?

The car which i tested wasn't mine, so i was reluctant to stress the car
further. The engine wasn't very willing to go beyond 170kmh, almost out
of breath. There was a chance it might travel a bit faster if i went on,
but not without huffing and puffing.

As i mentioned earlier, that wasn't even the latest 318i with Valvetronic
technology. Its the 1.9 litre version.

Actually can go a bit more la if i paksa the engine, but then other
people's car wor...

Are you sure, PV6 is good for cruising at high speed. 170 should not be so
stressful like what you mention. Even my waja 1.6 A could hit 190 without
much issue.
