Was using Mobil1 for my Wira, thats until my brother (who is working in
EON SC) told me its a waste of money cause the stock engine is not a high
performance one...same like overkilling. I tend to agree with him.
Now, no money to get synthetic.

To me, the best one is Castrol Formula SLX 0W-30. Have been using it
since 1997.
Azbro's brother statement is only half true, for high mileage users like
me, there was no need for overhaul for my previous car (Iswara '94) even
after more than 260,000 km using synthetic oil. Even my current car
(Lynx '02) already made 66,000+ km, also using SLX.
Mineral based oil has sufficient protection, but need to follow service
intervals exactly. But you wud suffer more engine wear during startup
compared to using synthetics. And the oil resistance to pressure is not
that high.

Yeaa..i think for high mileage n agressive drivers it is better to use
Synthetic oil no matter what engine they're using.

I think u guys should try chemlube. This oil is fully imported from the
USA unlike others which are normally produced here. Been using it for 6
yrs plus and so far so good. According to the manufacturer claims, u can
go for around 40k or 1 year (whichever comes first) before the next oil
change. Just don't neglect the usual oil filter change. This brand is
usually very popular with salesman due to its high mileage interval.

People I know who have raced Porsches and Lotuses in the UK tend to go with Mobil One. Of
course that is personal preference and not a reflection of what is put in out of the factory.
i think that if you don't have a turbo/supercharged/highly stressed engine and also don't do
a lot of miles then mineral oil is sufficient as long as you adhere to the maintenace schedule.

Brio,
How much is chemlube? Fully synthetic? So you change your oil every 40k?

I`ve tried most of the synthetic brands in the local market but the 2
best are Castrol SLX and Caltex Havoline Energy. Both give superb
smoothness, acceleration and fuel economy. No surprise here since both
were 0W-30 and 5W-30 oils.
