If the manual calls for GL5, you cannot use GL4.

How often u change the manual gear oil?
My maintanance booklet call for 40K interval.

I read a Merc maintanance booklet call for 1st 1k. That all. No further info.

I think castrol got 75w80 in gl-4 and gl-5. castrol call all the gl-5 grade
oil extreme grade.

My car is 4WD. 15k km is seem Ok to me... when I take out the gear oil i
can see that the oil is not that "oily" as new. Now front is 4L 75w90
(RM160++), rear I use 80w90 1L (Rm100) will change to some thing cheaper
in the next oil change for the rear to 1L RM60. As I plan to keep this
car for some time..... may be to 2011 (NAP) hehe....

As for the engine oil I change every 5k km @ 4.5L

So ur also hv a big qty of oil too. F=??L R=??L

My car is 4wd too.
got front axle, lsd, gear n differential box oil to change.
Ur lsd n gear/differential box seem small.
What 4wd?

u bought 75w90 at rm160 for 4 litre. n 80w90 for rm100 per litre.
This is very expensive.
What oil it is, so expensive?

I think urs is the real 4x4.... right?? a D-4D I like that engine a good
one.

My is just a normal seden...that why it is 4WD or some ppl may call it
AWD. hint most of it come in blue color.

the front box I use Q lapan, rear is Endless.. later will change it to
Kaaz Oil (cheaper) just for the rear. Worry if put in 80w90 into the
front will it hv an uneasy gear input in the morning?? as the oil hv cold
down.... Now try to get/read more info on the toyota LSD gear oil

In M'sia is hot all year long & oil will degrade faster than place which
is much more cool...??

anyway how is the castrol gear oil??
