Mmm... not back, but I was expecting the bumper to look like the one at
Toyota Cami. Secondly, the air-cond, cooler switch is outdated. I was
also expecting them to be knot, like those at Toyota Cami.

The bumper still acceptable, more si-mun but prefer the Cami type Blush.
The air-cond, cooler switch, hope P2 could change to the one in Cami.
This one is really out-dated.

As an ex-Kembara owner, would like to point out that:

1) looks like the trip meter is now digital. Cool

2) got the useless audiophoneAngry, wonder if we can omit this or not?
Costly lar, why can't they add another RM400 to install an airbag???
DisapproveDisapproveDisapprove

3) Nice rims, better than the old ones.

4) The spare tyre case is now standard? Or has this been the case for
newer batch after 1999?Question

5) Nice front bumper design. Radical.Blush

6) 2-Tone colour on the web seems really eekie Shock. Dunno how good they
look in real life. Hope won't go blind looking at it. White seems to
be the best looking ones (my opinion only, cause can easily modify
later to look like toyota's cami...hehehehe Big SmileBig Smile)

That is about what i can differentiate from the first pix so far. Chip
did mention that the price would remain the same for the first month!!
Shock Woo lar lar.

Wonder if they are trying to counter the H.City's and T.Vios's sales?
Hmmm.....Tongue

Very tempting, but will wait for Chips test drive on it. Cause the main
reason I sold it off was its enormous fuel consumption (no joke)Frown,
super duper lack of powerDead (my grandma can even overtake me with her
bicycleShock), plasticky feel when washing the car, and the rear right
absorber konked 3 times within 2 years of onwershipEvil. Dunno why.
Sigh. Still thinking of which car to buy, H.City or Mit.Storm.

Hence, agent Cody Banks (Chips), your full report will help Perodua to
either gain or lose a customer.Big SmileBig SmileBig SmileBig Smile

Quick answers as I am doing the article now.

Yes, there is a digital tripmeter display - but only for EZ versions. But
the whole meter panel is now electronic, not cable.

The new model costs RM1,600 more to build already so airbags are going to
make it even more expensive when Perodua is trying to control the retail
price. As it is, they seem to be absorbing about RM600 when they increase
by RM1K. The DVVT engine is pretty new, even in Japan, and is therefore
expensive at this time.

There are two silver colours available and a new green. Twon-tone looks
like the old one.

First comments on driving - very nippy, even with a tight engine.
Micrchips, my 11 yo co-tester, said the engine sound during acceleration
is like a Tamiya racer. Handles pretty well for a car this tall.

OK, got to keep at my work otherwise like the Vios report... up to 2:30
am and then many stupid mistakes that Ah Tee got to SMS me at 6am to
point out to me!

as usual...

new version (kembara DVVT) = old version + cosmetics

the law of conservation of cars...(all chemical engineers know this rule)

Hahaha.. i've just tested the new kembara just now !! although (a) it's
pretty fun to drive.. handling has been improved slightly from the old
model. Big Smile
DVVT opens around 5000rpm and dies of at 7000rpm. Power wise.. it's more
powerful compared to the old one of course.. and it has the gearbox
whereby you can shift to reverse gear while you're driving but the gear
won't engage. (live PV6)
now.. only the front has power windows (for GX & EZ)

One strong point is the smoothness of the engine. You can hardly hear the
engine while you're driving inside (using timing chain..not belt)
but from the outside you can hear the chain.. abit noisy.

the color of the meters are in pinkish red.. cute !

Anyone for a test drive ?

The high end Cami Aero Turbo cost RM54k in Japan. But, back in Msia, we
are paying the same for one without Turbo nor ABS, Airbag etc etc.

Why?

1. Is it the 30% tax on P2 vs 5% tax on Protong?

2. Is it the scale of production? If that is the case, the more it make,
the cheaper it is. So, when P2 start making the Kembara/terios for the
Asean market, the price will be reduce, rite?

What's the difference between EX, GX and EZ? Can't seem to find anything
on P2 website stating the differences except for the price.
