Everyone has an attitude, you , me, AC, everyone. Even your posting also
poses attitude. But you can be different in person right? Every action will
have a reaction somehow or rather. A fire is always started by a spark and
it can get our of hands at a certain time and most of time ends up
emotionally even behind an electronic device like a keyboard Somehow
somewhere this thread got on the wrong foot probaly due to some
misunderstanding on some postings made if you were to carefully read all of
them again. As the threadstarter stated, he was just naturally asking for a
place and hence AC responded, I don`t see any harm in self promoting the
biz as it would be natural to do so for anyone.
To what I see it started from here "Servicing alfa need special skills and
tools...."
Probably AC thought that it was a suggestion that indicated he is not
competant enought to maintanence work on an Alfa or it was that answer was
directly to AC telling him that he is not competant. This is where the
misunderstanding started and all the other salt and water came in added on.
I don`t really see a big issue on this, so why make it a big one? Just a
small misunderstanding.

Brightenit,
You are clearly a nice guy and do Brightenit up around here and thats
always cool. From my perspective though, if someone wants to keep talking
about Autochild, NP, this foolish old guy here has a lot to learn .. and
if he is willing to pay for that education at the exspence of his
reputation amongst his Alfa peers I am all too happy to oblige .. wheras
Autochild's good reputation is always earned through actions.. It is not
so much an emotional excersice as it may appear ..

hehe.. the reason why Alfa's need to be properly serviced is because that
Alfa owners love their cars and whack their cars to the limit (or most of
them here are this way)... So if you dont do somethign properly. they
will know and complain... hehehe

jetta, its not just that.
while some cars are intuitive to fix - like toyotas, i hear they're a
mechanic's dream to repair - italian cars are a real bitch to fix. anyone
who's tried to remove the oil filter from a 156 V6 will know what im
talking about. to get at the oil filter, u need to put her on a hoist,
remove the engine undertray, undo the clips holding the a/c pipes, move
them out of the way a bit (but not too much or u break them), have small
hands so u can squeeze it in between the a/c pipes and near the exhaust
manifold (dont burn urself!) to yank and maneuver the oil filter out.
changing the oil takes 5 mins. changing the filter can take 45 mins.
the rest of the car is like that too. try to dismantle an alfa dash
without the proper tools and expertise and i can guarantee u will break
half the clips in there. to change the 156 headlights u need to first
remove the bumper. to change the airfilter on the V6 u need to remove the
relay box, battery and battery stand. to change the front antiroll bar,
the entire front subframe has to come out. and done even get me started
on the hassle of changing a radiator fan on the V6!
the italians may be good at a lot of things but they suck at ergonomics.
hence the importance of a specialist who knows what they're doing in
order to get the job done right.

Redd,
Also I think its that many mechanics are not familiar with the Alfa/Fiat
cars and think they can fix it like a Proton/Toyota... May cause other
issues which could be related with the electronics or fill in incorrectly
specced fluids into the car...
But I still feel its best to leave the Alfa/Fiat cars to specialists to
be safer... parts isnt as easy to find as my VW is and does cost more.
