Thanks for the information Redd. I am in Penang so I am not likely to
call the number you gave. The last time I asked, some mechanics in Penang
told me a used 156 v6 could fetch up to RM120,000.
Frankly speaking, I felt like dieing the other day when the salesman
quoted me the prices. I remember I told him in return, that I was willing
to buy one at RM16,000 plus RM4,000 commissions for him, if he could get
a unit that was exactly the same as mine, with the same condition,
mileage and everything. Even if I didn't need it, I could still park it
at my house for admiring purposes.

karboo, if i were in penang like u are, id still call the number. penang
cars fetch a huge premium, especially the more exotic ones. u could take
a plane down here a couple times to view cars, buy one in KL and drive it
up and still save money in the process.
plus penang is starved for options when it comes to alfas. better buy in
KL where u have more units to choose from so u dont pick a lemon.
good luck!

Well said karboo. i don't think he is really interested to take your car.
Perhaps he just want to shoo you away, no busniz la this Alfa... Your car
worth way beyond the value quoted by that salesman.
btw, hope your wish to get 156 V6 for your father will come true… your
father is lucky for having a son like you…..Amen

I think I agree with you. The salesman has not even bothered to call me
to check on the outcome of my consideration. If that is the case, I might
as well go direct to the owner since I know where to find the mechanic
that used to service the said S40. Then push down the price further and
really let the owner die...then few years down the road when I resell,
salesman offers me another RM16,000 and let me die again/too!
What goes around sure comes around!

By the way, I have been wanting to ask.
To those who don't use their AR for daily travel, how do you maintain the
tyres since they remain stuck to the floor all the time. The same spot
that has contact with the floor will be pressured all the time and I
think this is not healthy for them. Mine have developed hair line cracks
within two years and when they are under inflated, I can see clearly the
cracks.
Do we jack up the car when not in use? Please advise. Thanks.

karboo, no way about it. u gotta drive the car. or replace the tires when
u want to drive it regularly again. after 2 yrs ur tire rubber would have
hardened anyway.
at any rate, leaving a car undriven for long periods is not healthy for
the car. pls note that rubber parts like oilseals, timing belts, etc have
a age limit as well as a mileage lifespan. ur timing belt will also
harden and deteriorate over time even if u dont drive the car. pls be
aware of that.

My 155 sits in the porch 7 days a week. Sometimes at night, I bring it
out for a short spin. I drive a 13 year old Proton Wira to work.
When my 155 is not in use, I make sure it is warmed up for at least 5
minutes everyday.
A two year life span for tyres is a bit too short, isn't it? My Wira used
to run on the same set of tyres for 5 years and by the time I decided to
change, at least 40% of the tread still remained intact. Of course I
agree that the tyres would have been hardened by then and might be
dangerious.
Somehow my 155 tyres only covered about 30,000 km.
