Auto or Waja auto second hand. I'm currently a student and i would be
mostly using it for driving in Kl city and sometimes to travel back to
Penang. What would be recommendable? And does it mean that the fuel
consumption would be lesser for a 1.8 compared to a 1.6 if it's always
cruising at speeds 110 and above? Will the rev be lower at 110 for the
1.8 compared to the 1.6? And are there many problems for a Putra? Thanks
ppl!!

off his putra. he wants to sell it since he already got a storm. i reckon
i have been saying this a lot in this forum. the car is in superb
condition, and you do not have to do anything else with the car. just
drive and enjoy the ride. if you were to get an auto, chances are, you'd
spend extra loot on your gas if you get stuck in jams. manual actually
saves a lot in terms of mileage. if you would like to view the putra,
call me at 012-287-8350.

To answer one of your questions first... most protons have problems.. here
and there.. (no offence) i drive a proton too.
seeing that you actually considered a putra.. im guessing you want to
power to go with your car too ... so i would recommend.. based on my own
choice.. a Putra. Although the Waja 'looks' continental.. it's got it's
own sets of problems which never brought it anywhere close to a conti'. A
Putra on the other hand.. looks good as a coupe by itself.
If you want to get a putra auto.. i would recommend a 97' model.. as it's
got the best fuel milage/economy amongst the other years.

traffic jams, roundabouts and slopes would be troublesome for me as i've
been on the auto since day one. I still could get use to some manual
driving but i don't think my parents would allow that. They got me the
Kenari in the first place to prevent me from speeding but yeah, it's
still speedable . Yeah, just wanna know, although i have the
experience of driving my mum's waja, i know it has it's own set of
problems, but it's nothing too critical for my mum's car that is...but
wat i am curious now is, does putra have a more critical set such as
engine and interior problems? Afaik, Waja usually has lot's of
electronics and interior problems but the engine is still ok, just that
it's a little underpowered for the 1.6 auto. Thanks again people!!

have the kenari you parents bought you? anyway, guess what?
another one of my friends too have a putra and it's auto and silver in
color. good condition i reckon, year 97. and about the traffic jams
thingy, i do agree at some point, but if you drive a manual, your gas
wil last longer.

isn't appropriate for driving on highways. It's too dangerous and there
are no abs or watever safety in this little car. Though have to rugi a
lot, but i spoke to my parents about it and the say that i can only have
a second hand car coz if i sell the kenari, i would gain nothing and i
would lose even my down payment. I rather settle for a bigger car coz
driving the kenari is kinda stressful due to the sitting position and the
seat doesn't have a good support for the body. I must say that Kenari is
quite problem free except for few things, the electricals are driving me
nuts as sometimes the central locking works and sometimes it fails.
Anyway, my cousin is helping me to look out for a putra, i think i might
get one for a test drive tomorrow. Anyway, yeah, manual does last longer,
but i still prefer the slush box..

In an automatic, it's impossible to mistime a gear change. Also, unskilled manual drivers may wear out the clutch because of his/her inability to manipulate it properly.
Automatic cars also have no direct mechanical link between the engine and the wheels, unlike manual. The engine-wheel connection is just fluid in the torque converter which runs the turbine.
It's a proven fact that automatic gearboxes last long. In fact, they'll give plenty of warnings before they fail.
From what I have read, automatic gearboxes are among the most reliable components of a car.
Pls correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks.
