Original Post : So why don't you answer my question, huh?

Because it has nothing to do with the original point raised by Gunner93.

Of course it has smth to do with that.

If satria neo is a rip off of Neo-VVL, then are you implying that Nissan
is the first company that uses the word "NEO" for Neo-VVL?

If yes, then how about Mazda 3 neo from Australia? Mazda is a copycat also?
You tell me.

What I know is that neo is a prefix, derived from Greek that connotes
a "new" or recent form of something, or a revival in a modern form. So it
basically means new. It`s not a technical or a specific term, it`s a
general term.

do know la, why some forumers still says this NEO is suck just because it
look like Gen-2. don't u know that all car manufacturers have their own
trade mark on front facelift. dont u notice that all the BMW model have
almost same facelift for all of their model?? but why no body bash on
BMW?? because it BMW... have u ever see audi S4, A4 and RS4. all got 100%
same facelift also. But no negative comment heard on it. because it audi.
this type of comment just for schoolboy who try to tell others the he
know about car. be matured man... this NEO is not 100% same as gen-2.
yes, it still got something to improve like, doorpanel, cheap plastic
look still everywhere, ah beng fuel flap, and bling2 wanabe rim. but the
rest is ThumbUp...

freundlich,

Cool it bro... no intention to attack any Proton lovers personally - just
a keen observation on how Proton using names as a marketing tool to sell.
If you ask me its new clothes on an old body. Pls give us something more
deserving of a Proton NEO.

gunner93,

Why don't you ask the new CEO of proton? Your opinion might help him to
improve on his management system. I think this is what you want, don't you?

I can sense that this neo should have comparable handling like the sgti.

The 1.6 clad in white color should be superb.

Nonetheless the -point is the ah beng fuel flap. Can someone tell proton
to apply it with the same body color.

cheers.

>Of course it has smth to do with that.

No it doesn`t. We were talking about NEO as it relates to variable cam
technology. You, on the other hand, upon having your argument being shown
the door, have resorted to bring in other wide and far ranging aspects of
the word NEO, all of which have nothing to do with Gunner93`s original
point.

Gunner93 made a good point about Proton`s continued tendency to make
references to variable cam technology in it`s brand names.

Proton made a lot of hoopla about the possibility of incorporating
variable cam technology into their new in house engine. To that end, they
even named it CAMPRO which Proton led everyone to believe would be their
version of variable cam tech based on Lotus proprietry tech.

Imagine the surprise when CAMPRO turned out to be a plain vanilla engine.

Now, they call the SRM Satria Neo.

I thought it was just interesting that Proton would choose Neo knowing
full well that Neo VVL is Nissan`s variable cam tech and all such Nissan
engines carry that tag, for eg. SR20VE NEO VVL.

In addition, most car enthusiasts often differentiate performance models
from plain vanilla models by informally combining the model name and
variable cam tag. For instance Civic Vtec or Lancer Mivec or Silvia Neo
VVL means a helluva different beast compared to their tamer siblings. But
then, you have to be an enthusiast to appreciate this nuance.

I reckon Proton just wanted an illusion of sportiness without actually
having a sporty engine. I`m just glad Proton didn`t name it something
even more glaring like Satria VVTC or Satria MiTEC.

For the discerning enthusiasts... a normal 1.6 ltr engine kicks out about
100 ++ ponies. The potent 1.6 NEO VVL kicks out 170hp ++ and the rare 1.6
NEO VVL N1 kicks out 195hp with their variable timing & lift technology.

Drool on baby...
