no flame post here, just curious to know if the flagship satria could keep
up with a honda vtec. obviously the vtec has more power, but the R3 weighs
only 985kg rite? anybody heard of such encounters?

Honda Vtec is powerful. weight is 1 factor, but the Vtec engine is develop
from F1 tech & damn powerful. Even the honda is heavier than R3, but honda
vtech gearbox is very efficient in delivering the HP to wheel.

i wouldnt wanna compare r3's engine with vtec..maybe r3's chassis with
honda's will be better

Are u sure? R3 chasis is better than Honda?

Honda is using front toe control link strut suspension and rear reactive
link double wishbone suspension.

R3 is using Fr: Performance-tuned MacPherson struts, uprated coilsprings,
revised static ride height and camber and 19mm anti-roll bar
Rr: Multilink system with performance-tuned dampers, uprated coil springs
and revised static ride height.

Doublewishbone is more mean for handling & performance.

but R3 is under LOTUS TUNE....

and about F1 tech in vtec....honda is not doing good in F1 either...

but for sure we cant compare HONDA with PROTON....HONDA have a far
better engineering than PROTON...but about chasis...PROTON have LOTUS on
their side...LOTUS 1 of the world best chasis maker....

Which VTEC is the R3 being compared to? Big? Small? DC5? EG6? EK9? Jazz?
Don't believe manufacturer stats alone. Best is to get a factory stock
VTEC and compare test results. 1/4 mile, 0-100...etc. All tests should be
done with a standardized device like G-Tech Pro or RSM w/gforce sensor.

Anyway, 4G93P is a dinosaur engine

BTW, R3 isn't exactly Lotus tuned. The chassis and suspension design was
done in-house at Proton Motorsports.

it is lotus tuned too . hehehe ... its a stripped down and enhanced Gti .
lotus surely involved in this project .
but then over all is done by proton morosports .

Honda Vtec is 1 of most powerful engine in the world, honda S2000 is
record holder for HP to ratio of weight. Honda is doing good for past few
years, the only problem is budget. But lotus is retired from F1 for many
years already... maybe their technology is not so advance right now.

but defitanely honda chasis & suspension is better than Lotus.

My friend, an R3 owner already tested his car on the century sprint with
a G-Tech Pro. Result?

7.23 sec

But I think that EK9 driver could do better
