Few days ago my car's front windscreen cracked mysteriously
Anyway, can anyone of you please let me know how much does the windscreen
roughly costs?? Exluding workmanship and glue? I insured the windscreen
for Rm500 only. Enough?
And how do i go about the process of claiming the insurance? I heard that
i need to have a photo of the windscreen taken at the policestation first.

fyi, there are 2 types of glass, 1)tempered 2)laminated.....tempered glass
cost cheaper than laminated glass. last time i changed my car windscreen
(satria) using laminated glass, including labour and glue, total up is
RM600
u just bring your car to the workshop with broken glass, let them take
picture and they will help u to claim from your insurance company....no
need to make police report, coz this is not an accident....unless it was
someone broke into your car...

"kap kehng" means laminated glass loh.
"sa kehng" means tempered loh.
"sa kehng" when pecah it will bring into small pieces where as "kap kehng"
only the outer layer is broken where is the inner layer still keep the
broken glass intact.
yeah, no worry.. just go to the workshop let them take pictures and do the
claims for you. "kap kehng" should be around ~RM550 - ~RM600(labour
included). putra, satria & wira all use the same size.

that means tempered glass is a safer choice, right?
Does this means that one a laminated glass is broken (including the inner
later), it will become sharp and dangerous? But i need not worry about it
if i have tinted the windscreen with a good and reputable tinting, right?

both glass were safe... if laminated glass broken, mostly all those small
pcs of glass will stick together as laminted glass was actually 2 pcs of
glass that stick together, in between there was a laminated film attached
both glass...so no worried at all...
if u already had tinted film then lagi bagus lor.....another layer of
laminated film...

nuggyn,
laminated glass are suppose to be safer and that is why it costs more.
like what lai chong had mentioned. there is a film in between the glass.
where as tempered glass if it breaks you will have the hassle of cleaning
your car interior. got to vacuum all those glass from your seats and
carpet. the price difference between them is around RM200 or more.
