All the sifus out there, i'm interested in getting a Perdana with above
mentioned engine, my questions are:

1. if i wanna get a normal perdana to convert myself, is it better to get
a SEi or the V6 model?

2. if i'm getting a converted V6TT, what should i consider when i getting
the car?

additional question to the 1st question, what would be the cost for the
car price(which yr), engine, brakes, exhaust, suspension?

by the way, what is the exact performance figures (hp and torque) for this
machine?

Since you are already planning to convert, get an SEi as it is cheaper.
The money you saved can be thrown into the conversion, suspension and
interior.

I'll leave question number two for "bluedemon". Big Smile

You can also consider a VR4 conversion for a SEi. It's a direct drop and
4WD fits with no chassis mods. A ETT V6 in a SEi needs mounting
modifications.

A VR4 in a PV6 needs mounting mods as well.

Funnily enough the V6TT punches out the same amount of BHP as the V6
Mivec. but which one is cheaper? Do you know how to maintain a turbo
engine? do you think it's as easy as the NA engine? questions
questions.....

hello there,

since the 1st question has been answered by V-Spec, i'll try to answer
the 2nd one. forgive me if my English is like rojak mamak.

well, if u want to buy a converted V6TT perdana, first of all u must try
driving the car. if you are not familiar with the V6TT, u'll find it a
bit sluggish when you started to roll off, but floor the pedal and the
car should (i donno how to explain la, but it should zoom off la. like
rocket)

1) listen to the sound of the engine. smooth or not.
2) check the gears, can change smooth or not. if it is an auto, make sure
the V6TT is a 4WD. if it is not a 4WD, be prepare to change the gearbox
every 6 months. hehe :P if it is a manual, 4WD locked to 2WD if properly
done will last as long as a normal gearbox.
3) is there any smoke comes out from the exhaust. if it does, depends on
the color f the smoke, maybe faulty turbo turbine or broken gaskets or
engine kong.
4) see some signs of any leaking part at the bottom of the engine. my ex
V6TT was leaking at the clutch pump and also the head gasket. easy to
rectify.
5) check the ECU if it is for V6TT or just normal V6. a definite no no if
it is not for V6TT. Tenchu faced this problem once.
6) does the car body shakes violently when to try to push the car while
driving. if it does, drive shaft kaput.
7) try turning on all the lights. from my experience, if the rear red
lights always burns out, signs of cikainya wiring job.

ok, that's all i can think of this morning. i hope it helps.

orait!

just to add,

to maintain it, depends on your luck if the engine from the halfcut or
converted is in good condition, is almost the same as maintaning a normal
engine. you must not skip service intervals, for turbos it is recomended
u use semi-syn engine oil and change it every 2500-3000 kms. that's about
it actually. unless u have a problem engine.

the cost for a 1995 GLi Perdana is around 38-40k, V6TT halfcut is a round
3800-5000 depending on the condition and where u source it. twinpot bake
calipers should come along with the halfcut. exhaust modified to straight
flow from the downpipe to the backbox. should be around 300. suspensions?
hahaha. u want brand new hotbits ah? i can sell you cheap2. u should go
for adjustables. depends on your taste, u can choose a wide variety, from
just adjustable kits which cost u about RM400 to japanese made RM5k and
above.

the manufacturer claim for the V6TT is 240bhp. that is on standard boost.
torque i tak tau.

orait!

Just another q to ask, which is better of the two of V6TT and Putra/Wira VR4? I
mean in terms of both comfort and performance?

and one more q to bluedemon, u said a 240bhp for V6TT is standard boost, so is
there a higher boost for the machine is recommendable? and from u figure of cost
give, it should be bout 55k below to get a "brand new" V6TT by self conversion, is
that really that achieveable at the figure stated?

As mentioned, Mitsu's claim for the V6TT is 240hp. I haven't seen one
dynoed yet, but it sure doesn't feel like 240hp. It might be there at top
end, but the car does feel rather sluggish down low. This might be a
factor of turbo lag. If you look at the twin turbo's stock i/c piping,
it's easy to see how it's practically being strangled by all the crimps
and splitters.

The VR4 comes in 3 flavours from 200, 220 and 240. The 240hp version comes
with twin pot brakes, better turbine etc. It's pretty sluggish off boost
as well but the 240hp version has a more substantial boost kick than the
V6.

There are lots more aftermkt parts for the VR4 and I dare say it is much
more robust (tolerant of higher boost) than the V6tt.

On the $ factor, the V6tt is newer but more expensive. The VR4 is cheaper
but older. So, you'll need to at least overhaul the VR4 which then makes
the price of both around the same.

For maintenance, I think the VR4 is way cheaper hands down. Lots of spare
parts, kedai potong stuff and shares a lot of niggly bits with the SEi.

I have seen a stock 6A12TT being dynoed and it produces 21Xbhp.
