gosh, satrianeo looks good really, but seem like it is not very friendly.

and what really caught me was Nazirmz's comment that fuel price will
increase 50sens next year... ooh sit next year is just 2 months away...

Malaysia will be going down to a economic disaster if this kind of cost-
push inflation continues without fundamental improvement in the whole
system.

lets work harder.

Neo's doors very heavy. Everyone complains about it, including myself.

Any high-rev engine will be fuel-thirsty. That is why all cars *properly-
designed* will always have low-rev for cruising speed. Some can be as low
as 1800 rpm for cruising at 90-110 km/hr.

It is still currently a best buy (Neo) compare to other cars. A Getz will
set you back 60+ K, minus the bells and whistles of a Neo (cruise control,
ABS, dual-airbags, MP3 player, sports coupe-look). Not even a high-end
City or Vios or Altis or even Camry will have cruise control.

If City is priced below 60K, then of course City will be better, even
minus the bells and whistles I mentioned.

The other new car I just bought is a Citra. That is also fuel thirsty. But
compare to Wish (140K) and Citra (76K for GLS), which would you choose?

A coupe or 2 door car always have heavier doors, normal because they are
longer. After a year or two, check on the door hinges cuz there might be
freeplay due to the heavy door. this will result on creaking or door hard
to close properly.

low-rev for cruising speed does not depend on engine only, it also
depends on final gear ratio. as i mentioned earlier, you took the wrong
choice, if u r looking for good FC an auto campro is definitely not the
best choice. You should have opted a manual or even the 1.3MT Campro.

Citra? Any korean cars are well known for their bad FC. But ppl buy them
because it's the cheapest non-proton car you can get. It's the same
mentality all over again: "My car sucks but at least it's not a proton"
instead of "My car is a proton but at least it doesnt sucks". Want to get
a real non-proton car, save a bit more and buy real cars like Swift or
Jazz, just dun buy Asean cars la.

yes... coupe door is mostly heavy becoz is longer.. i agree. Some ppl
simply complain without doing research. its heavy surely because of
bigger.. i dont think Proton put bricks in the door la.

i loveeee neo looks. if only they make it 4 door then its perfect for me
even though im not gonna buy (i bought other cars already).

Im not anti Proton.. but there are some reasons that i dont buy proton
lately.. Gen2 looks nice... but interior is bright colored. Waja looks
not nice. Savvy looks not nice. And Neo is perfect.. but 2 doors pulak.

Kia also i own.. i dont know from where u get the saying that Korean car
makan minyak.. mine is very good FC.. is Kia Picanto 1.1. But i heard
about Spectra to makan minyak.. maybe depend on model.

Hi, I've heard that you can't disconnect the battery (Waja), because the
ECU has volatile mmemory. Means it resets/blanks itself when power is
disconnected. How about neo? Have you tried? Try disconnecting the
battery for 5 mins, that's about the same duration for a replacement to
take place...If car can start and jalan2 like normal means that's good!

Ace, it`s no secret Proton`s QC sucks. What I want to know is, do the SCs
attend to what ever problem a customer encounters. Do they fix it or
does one have to live with it. Non Proton/Perodua cars are so expensive
for a new graduate. One is forced towards locally made cars which are of
poor quality. Perodua`s QC seems better, but the cars are rather dull.
Have started to look at second hand other makes, especially as the prices
have come down quite a bit.

all new cars like that lor!
will reset to failsafe programming if disconnected from batt.
same like your PC you take out the small batt inside mobo then everything
reset lor. this is suppose to be a failsafe backup if you scr3w up
anything mah!

I know Proton Edar SC in Miri (JL Workshop) attends to my complaints
diligently. The Service Executive, Wong, is very helpful.

The flapping noise that seems to come from the dashboard was actually
gearbox mounting to the engine that was loose. Had to remove the battery
and the battery housing in order to tighten that screw/nut.

But I can still detect some flapping noise but much lesser now. Maybe need
to tighten some more, which I think I can do myself.

I am now in Manila, and my Satria Neo is stored at my house in Bintulu.
The car will be unused for a month or so. I think the new battery can
tahan without the engine being started for a month.

What you guys think?

Hi AceVentura.....

As a longtime Proton customer, how would you rate the Neo against Proton's other offerings? I
ask because I've had 2 Proton's in my family- a 1992 Wira 1.6 which was a fantastic- if boring-
car and a 2002 Waja which- and let's face it- is a disaster and because I'm VERY close to buying
a Neo 1.6 (M) HLine myself.

I agree with you that the auto version of the Neo probably isn't the best car around. I test drove
one yesterday and it seems to me that the kickdowns and manual upshifts are PAINFULLY slow
while the gear ratios themselves are hopelessly mismatched to the engine's torque curve. That
engine needs to be revved hard- like the old 8v Alfa Romeo TwinSpark engines- and putting an
auto box probably more tuned to Japanese hairdresser-friendly low end torque engines on one
seems more than a little silly.

I haven't driven the (M) version yet as Proton's "Platinum" showroom in Damansara Intan doesn't
have a manual test car but I'm hoping that at least putting me in charge of the gearchanges will
help matters considerably.

Anyhoo..... I'm a longtime Proton basher and I'm sorry if that offends but when a company puts
out floaters like that 2002 Waja, the Waja 1.8, Tiara, original Gen2 and Perdana and pretty much
any DRB built Proton then it richly deserves all the nasty things I've said about them over the
years.

However, Proton looks set to win me back with this Neo. So......

1) How would you compare build quality on your Neo against your 2000 Wira and 2002 Satria-
especially in the "rattles and squeaks" department?
2) How long can you drive the car for without feeling discomfort?
3) How long can you drive the car for before HAVING to stop to stretch your legs?
4) Without engaging cruise control, how uncomfortable will it be to maintain a particular speed
with your right foot alone?
5) How does the Neo compare with your 2000 Wira for overall comfort during your normal
Bintulu-Miri commute?

Thanks man.... oh.. and any other Satria Neo owners, please give your comments too. Thanks for
all your help lads....

Cheers

Darth
