Just curious how many are running aftermarket programmable systems out
there? I am not in Malaysia now, but I know Haltech is quite popular back
home.

How much it cost roughly back home??

How does it feel to tune the engine with the laptop in the car.

just got myself a full kit, distributorless, but not
Haltech....Electromotive from USA....can't wait to use it in my own
car.....a modest VW Beetle.

any feedback welcomed.

i am still learning about these engine management systems.

I think your engine management system only work in ignition.
What about the fuel ?

Hey man ,
nowadays in malaysia especially in the klang valley area ,HALTECH is like
thousand of people are using it. Its a norm already. However we have this
new much greater Engine Management Systems which is MOTEC ( heard of
it ? )
Much much more features , its similar to haltech but far greater in
features and performance. Your torque curves is more drastic which means
more greater torque. Quite pricey but i seat a standard EVO 6 with just
plug in the MOTEC ECU and hear the roar and feel the thing fly.
Marvelous ANti Lag system they got.
:O

very good to hear that. I am interested in the HalTec E6K. Any idea how
much it cost back home? How much for complete kit including installation
or excluding?.

Motec is not something new.....it has been around for a long time. It is
indeed very good but also very costly. A lot of high end cars use
them......Porsche is one of them.

plugging in the ECU alone will not make any difference....it is how you
tune it.

Hlatech is just for me...i mean for my wallet....:)

Just a question , by investing RM6000 - 7000 what improvement will one
see ? Say 10 -15 % increase in torque and power ?
Would be nice if someone can furnish some dyno results Smile

i do not have much experience, but theroetically......

adding just the Haltech to an unmodified engine does not make any
significant difference....in fact close to none.

it is when you changethe engine specs, cc,CR,head flow/head job etc where
you need the ECU for tuning. the stock ECU will not able to cope with
those. Some of the cars, i think the older ones still uses distributor to
distribute spark, but with the E6K you can go distribbutorless.....

6000-7000 inclusive tuning....seems OK compared to UK and USA....is the
tuning done with dyno??

how much just for the kit alone?? can we tune ourself??? my engine will be
NA

As far as I know, once your buy Haltec, you canused it on N/A and turbo,
not like some can suit only N/A or only turbo.

My friend had install on his car and you only need notebook or computer to
tune it. He is now firguring how to make just botton to select normal
driving mode for saving fuel and race mode for burn fuel.

BTW he got it less than RM5K and used 2 weeks time to DIY install. It is
not only a ECU, whn you connect, you'll know what happen on you engine
system, water....... much much more. In other word, if something wrong,
you are able to know in advance before to late.

most of the aftermarket ECU nowadays cater for both turbo and
NA.....unless the cheap ones i think....good to hear it is cheaper than
5K....makes it even more affordable.

Haltech nowday cost RM3k for the ECU only,
then add wire harness, etc etc sensor can go up to 4.5k
If your car OEM use MAP sensor, you save $$ on the MAP sensor,
about 400 if i not mistaken
