I've been told conflicting stories on whether or not thermal wrapping on the exhaust will be harmful to the
piping. In my case, I'm interested in wrapping my
extractor and my car was 1.6 wira. For your references, my extractor was chrome finish and not stainless steel (Hotbits).
I want to know whether the extractor with chrome finish
still can be wrapping without damage the extractor? Or someone who using the hotbits extractor and wrapped it can share your experience here.
I hope can hear from your comment and suggestion soon. Thank you.

The extractor MAY crack in the long run, but the trade-off is you will significantly lower under-bonnet temperatures. It doesn't really give much, if anything, in terms of actual performance improvements. The other question that you may want to ask is what effect wrapping will have on all the ancillary parts connected to the extractor. A wrapped extractor gets much hotter than an unwrapped one, and also tends to retain heat longer after shutdown. This MAY lead to accelerated wear through thermal stressing due to heat soak. Since normal air convection cannot cool the extractor, any retained heat is conducted back to the head.
One thing is definite though, you can kiss the chrome finish goodbye if you decide to wrap it. It just flakes off... almost completely.
