Hi Guys

Recently one of the HIDs on my Camry blew. TSC confirmed the bulb faulty and quoted me almost 900 for the part. Nearly fell down hearing this. Original is Philips D4S from Germany.

I look outside for compatible ones and a shop only had a D4C which worked, so I got it for 150 (no brand). Anyone know if any difference betweed D4C and D4S and if 150 is expensive for a compatible?

similar case with my fren civic hid... he just change the new taiwan headlight(CCFL) + taiwan made hid... smile_thumbup.gif smile_thumbup.gif

cost less than getting the OEM bulb... somemore when the bulb burst, can easily get the taiwan made bulb.

Actually quite disappointed with HID. I thought they were much more durable smile_angry.gif

Never heard of it being more durable, but brighter only..... smile_wink.gif

9mth oredi defected ah... so short the term of life for OSram...

i believe this could be due to the quality of the wiring.
I've been using the same bulb;Osram SVS... since Feb 2007 - March 2011. No problem.

With HID price dropped till unbelievable rate, some offering below RM100 that is even cheaper than high end bulb. So, can't set too high expectation on the durability, especially the ballast.

The cheap bulb that I use last time of same size already out of focus. Imagine fitting cheap HID in replace of the bulb, then the focus will be really out.... smile_shock.gif
