i see so many HID kits being sold on Ebay with prices from US80 to US120
for complete kits. Some claim they are OEM Japan....
anybody tried these before? most are located in the states though.

If the HID is made from China, the price should below RM380....or
cheaper..and cannot last...nor4mally they only give i month or 3 months
warranty. as those made from US, Taiwan and Australia....will have higher
price more than rm420...more lasting and brighter

haha!
I am selling China HID with 1 year full-warranty (low claim rate though).
I am a soar-high?
90% of the failure is due to the workmanship lar..
Kena today. Killed a ballast and a few fuses. All because of a loose
connector.

Halogen bulbs is based on the heating of a high resistance conductor,
basically tungsten filament, using an electrical current. More heat is
generated than light in term of energy conversion rate. A 12DCV is
sufficient to light up a halogen bulb.
HID or more accurately Xenon discharge lamp, is based on the electrical
discharge of a mixture of xenon gas and some halide salts, followed by
emission of light energy (plasma). Less heat is produced but the light
intensity is a few times higher than a conventional halogen bulb. There's
no burning filament in a HID bulb thus the lifespan is also longer. A
high voltage (>20kV) current is required to ignite the chemical mixture
in the lighting capsule therefore a xenon system needs a converter called
ballast. The plasma is sustained with 9 - 16V.
Upgrading a conventional halogen system to a HID kit requires more work
than replacing a pair of halogen bulbs.
