hi, i am not an expert in cars but i have a question in mind, i am
currently
driving a Waja 1.6 enhanced model, and i frequently drive to penang for
business. sometimes when it rains, i am really quite scared apply the
brakes
too hard as i am afraid the wheels might lock(usually drive quite fast on
the
north-south highway when in a hurry). is it possible to install ABS on my
car
and how much would it roughly cost if i were to intstall ABS on my car?
anyone know where can i get it done in JB ?

Thanks alot in Advance.. Looking forward to experts out there's
response..

Possible, but not advisable. A mech who simply installs ABS but doesn't
know how to tweak the electronics and sensors can cause the car to be
more dangerous than before ABS.

If I were you, I'd invest in a better set of tyres.

Never heard of anyone retrofitting an ABS system.

Coz it involves getting the car's ECU itself to constantly monitor wheel
speed from the ABS sensor. Then there's the rest of the gubbins that go
with the system. Too complex liao.

BTW, don't confuse the aftermarket "ABS" (Advanced Braking System, which
is simply a type of EBD with an intentionally misleading name) with the
real "ABS" Anti-Lock Braking System.

The only simple solution to your problems is to change to a better grade
tyres like:

1.Michelin
2.Yokohama
3.Bridgestone etc

Never go for this two brands of tyre:

1.Sime tyre
2.Silverstone
3.Retreaded tyres

another safe way to avoid tyre lock is to drive with the speed u r
comfortable handling during rain....watch and adjust your distance. dun
brake on water pot, dun brake at corner, ensure tyre thd still good.

happy defensive driving!

or maybe if u are desperate for a car wif ABS as u feel unsafe without
them, then u shd look for cars wif original ABS in them... maybe a used
waja wif ABS? or upgrade to better cars? coz aftermarket ABS installation
is very complicated and complex and DANGEROUS...

safety devices like ABS or airbags shouldnt be installed aftermarket to
ur car as they are untested and unsafe... car manufacturers used hundreds
and thousands of hours to crash and test the cars to tune the airbags and
ABS systems, while aftermarket accessories are virtually untested and
unreliable and might not even be suitable for ur car...
