I would like to change my proton for a second hand continental car for few reasons. I would like to know which continental car is good buy? I'm looking at Opel, Renault, peqeuot or Citroen. what the pro's and cons' for those mention above in term of
1. Fuel consumption?
2. Maintenance?
3. How easy to obtain parts.
4. Work shop which can manage this cars.
thanks for all your advise.

I have always owned continental cars. Somehow Proton has never interested me & the present QC on proton is really bad. Anyway, I love the Pegeuot 406 or the AudiV6. Go 4 one of these & U`ll not be sorry. The spares may be a bit expemsive, but once fixed, the car generally runs well. Good luck buddy.

it's ok if u previously did use conti cars. u'll understand the glitches. but if u move from from the problematic-but-low-maintainance-cost proton to continental machines, prepare yourself (your wallet too) for maintaining them..
i'm not against continental cars, especially old ones - love their solid body, smooth ride, built & fittings quality, can put newer car shame on themselves. but if u dont mind the cost, go get them..
just my opinion..=)

for our own reason. my opinion is 2nd hand continental car is better than
new proton. i suggest u go for either bm/merc/volvo.coz of easiest among
all to find parts and workshop for maintenance.
fuel consumption, i suppose its depends on cc. parts for these three is
easy to find i suppose, you may also get them from kedai potong. workshop
is also not too hard to find. i think most of the w/shop can do merc. and
theres also x-volvo mechanic doing volvo like monfort boys in SA. and
continental workshop is always there. the parts may be a bit expensive
then our proton, but it will last longer..
this only my opinion..

why ?
1) easy to get parts..
2) easy to find mech.. especially specialize ones..
3) easy to maintain (get those without much electronics and u will be fine)
4) safe to drife
5) gives pleasure while driving
and it's the German technology..
for bimmer, check out our thread at bmw section...

conti, but a cheap conti, i,e a Pug 405SR, still miss the acceleration of
my Wira 1.8 DOHC but stolen so since me got to have a car and guess what
the cheapest car with a lot of space for a 1995 car is my Pug 405...never
regret if travel on long journey but have to go to specialist on that
model of conti car, just don't go simply to any workshop coz there will
bullshit u in the instance when there see the car with this kind of
attitude" ..haiyaaaa manyak susah ooo"...so need guts to buy a conti...if
i need to buy a conti with a small budget I will look for Alfa 155 or Pug
405SRi coz i like the look of it and u can get it with slightly around 2+k-
3+k for 1995/1996 pug and 4+k-5+k for alfa...., if looking for BMW, Audi,
or Merc u might have older year than pug or alfa as it is more expensive
