msia no "lemon" laws. US and developed countries... they do have such
laws; used to protect the consumers.

Hi all,

Went to check out the 1.8 turbo two weeks ago, really love the car. Never
test driven it though. Anyway, for your info, the SA called me few days
ago telling me tha the price will be increased by mid of December, by at
least 10K. So for those of you who are waiting, I think it is about time
to get it now. For me, it is beyond my budget.

BTW, is the K-series engine in the 1.8 the same as the one in Lotus Elise?

One very important aspect to factor into your consideration before you
plunge into this decision...will there be any (and I do mean any!) resale
value? Never mind the value...will anyone even take one second-hand?

If it is company car...(your own also can), this is not in the equation.

If it is your own money...50% loss after 1-2 years. What if you are
unlucky and get a real lemon?

What will happen after the warranty period? Will there be any qualified
mechanics to take over should you not be happy with the main franchise?

Good luck.

"K-series engine in the 1.8 the same as the one in Lotus Elise?"

the engine basically based-on the same engine platform.
but as usual, Lotus will tuned it up to higher performance.
anyway K-series got plenty of version, probably 6 versions of K-series.

There are things which make the K-series difficult to tune usually:
-A non programmable ECU (the Rover MEMS)
-Restrictive plenum based injection system which has to meet emission /
economy requirements
-Conservative valve and port sizes in the cylinder head
-Conservative cam timing and lift, coupled with hydraulic followers
-Bottom end strength

but if u want to modify the K-series engine for better awesome
performance, probably cost you about RM 15,000.

anyway, its better than CamPro. but CamPro will be better than K-series
once Proton produce the REAL CAMPRO.
