wow, there are more saab fans in here than in the mt forum. btw, does
anyone know if there is an official saab club? if no, what would owner's
expectations be? Auto Eurokars is organising a saab trip for saab owners
from 28, 29 and 30 may. call emy for details. she is co-ordinating the
trip. all models are available at the showroom now. the base 93, lux,
sport, sport +, aero, convertible, 95 in both sedan and estate and lpt
and aero versions are available.

Guys,

Just to say that in Malaysia the s/hand value of cars are based on
popularity not quality of any paticular model. As continental car lovers I
think we are lucky to get one with reasonable price. e.g- you can get one
nice volvo with the price of a Kancil. That goes for a Saab too I rekon!

Actually have driven a few SAAB's and they have poor g/boxes.
If noney no object then buy a 9-3, but if budget prevails get
a S60T it's truly fantastic car better than BM and merc

I previously owned a Saab 900, gotta agree in Malaysia these cars are a
bargain... only when they are second hand though.

As for mechanical trouble, the first Saab 900 I had, it was from year
1991, it was 8 years old and already had covered 210,000 miles.. this was
in US... car started even when the temp was way below freezing.. funny
there once was this huge snowstorm... got into the saab, car started
without a single problem... there was a new toyota camry next to it, even
after I had swept all the snow off the car, that toyota had still not
started... owner had given up and asked me if I could give her a ride. (I
know who the owner was)

The second 900 I owned was the one based on an Opel Vectra... sadly this
car was not near as much fun to drive as the previous 900..
When I finally graduate again and become that barister, the first thing I
am going out to buy is a Saab! I would never buy a japanese or korean car
as these cars just don't have a soul.

Cars like Alfas, Fiats to most people are extremely unreliable cars, and
indeed they can be, but one thing these cars have is a lively soul that
stirs your passion, they are not mere machines for transportation only.

If you like Saabs, then the 9-5 or the previous generation 9-3 are the
cars to get right now.... reliable, and generally well built.

As for gearboxs, yes they arent' great no thanks to opel donating it to
them..... GM......again!

gm sucks bottomline!!! but saab and opel are decent cars who had the
unfortunate and unavoidable curse of being small, and technologically
competent, making it ripe for take over by conglometrates who are more
interested in making money! take lotus for example, thrown away by gm
because the just couldn't do niche cars
