that the dealership is in the hands of a dodgy organization ..

Dubious resale value. Should make a fab second hand buy in a few years'
time.

As they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. Personally, the
exterior design is nothing special or stand out. Back lights look a bit
like Hyundai Ascent. Front reminds me of Hyundai Sonata.

Looks like the looks department is a no no then.

I really wonder how the ride and handling. Also the NVH.

Looking at the prices, it about the same as a 2litre Jap car.

2nd hand value would be questionable, I understand.

Any one knows how their service quality? Looks like only have service
presence in JB, KL and Png.

Thanks.

IMHO, it is priced very reasonably. Quite a match to Camry 2 l with 2.4 features. Great value
for money.
If i were to buy this car, i wont think of changing car for at least another 6 years. Unless i
got money to burn la.

For the timebeing i have to settle with my waja.

On service matter, if EUROMOBIL (audi dealer) servicing audi and VW, i think we can service
Skoda there too. Prahad service quality i heard... a bit sub standard for that quality car.
Reality is ...i dunno for sure...ahaks

dodgy ad in the papers showing a higher spec version with large rims...

the 150k one in the press conference has smaller rims... really looks
"less" nice... than in the ad..

Hello....appreciate some input from you guys. My parents plan to buy
either the new Octavia 200FSI (RM 151,139.40) or the old Octavia 200 Turbo
(RM135,168.35). The price difference is about RM15,000. I haven't seen
both models but my parents says both looks about the same.

So is it worth to go for 200FSI? Any major difference between the two?
Thank you.

The design of the new Octavia 200 FSI is definitely much better than the
old 1.8T, I like the bolder front and the solid front shoulders design.
The interior is also better designed and instrumentation looks more
german like.

The difference that I can see immediately is the fully electric seats in
the new FSi. Not forgetting the availability of the station wagon for a
few thousand more.

I did not test drive, short on time.

NVH would be much better, I saw fibre like boards under all the wheel
fenders and a lot of effort to reduce noise.

And I think the old model will be on the way out very soon.

The old Octavia 1.8T is a great car especially since you get a turbo charged engine which you can
tune to 200hp with a simple software upgrade.

However, as you mentioned it's for your parents whom I assume are looking for attributes in a
family car that are not performance biased, the new Octavia makes much more sense. The new FSi
engine produces good power (same as the 2litre engine used in the new Audi A3), and the all new
A5 platform (same platform as the VW Golf and Audi A3) is a whole generation ahead of the old
one.

Features of the new A5 platform over the the old Octavia are a significantly stiffer chassis, and new
4 link suspensions. This makes a big difference in handling, ride, comfort, safety, and reduced NVH.
Yes, the design is similar, but if you look closely at the car, the new Octavia has many more modern
design details which you will grow to appreciate over time.
