noticed that there is pitifully little response given
to any Opel's discussion and thus try to keep this
thread going.
Unfortunately I have no idea about Opel mechanics yet
however once I found out any I will keep you posted. I
have to find out as well as I am going to get hold of
my Opel Vectra very soon.
Just hope that the car don't breakdown till we find
someone good! I heard that Europel is on the cutthroat
business but I have to find out personally one of
these day.

thought Opel was a goner.
Actually did some research about this car. It is
called a poor mans merc. I got hold of my Opel about a
month ago and thank God so far it has not broke down.
To tell you the truth after sitting in this baby, you
realize the diff. between a Jap and a Euro car. It is
an excellent car and superb handling and it has power
too. The pick up is really good although we cannot
compare to the incomparable Alfas.
From my understanding the Opels hardly breakdown and
if they do we better start praying hard that it is
nothing serious. But I guess if we keep to the regular
check ups and timing belt changes we don't have to
worry. These German Shepard lasts and I am sure it is
reliable too probably the marketing of this car is
done by poor businessmen who do not see the conceptual
picture and only go for short term gain.
I enquired from Europel about servicing and changing
the timing belt and you are right the are a cut throat
cult. I have found a mechanic in Kepong he is good and
honest person. His name is Peter (Mat Salleh guy) and
prices are a lot cheaper than Europel.
So once you get your Vectra I will give his details.
Good luck mate.
...have Opel will travel...

Well my car is actually the Opel Astra 1.6(A) Ecotech
Engine 16V. It is a superb car and to my suprise for
long journey I feel that the petrol consumption is
better that my previous 1.5 (A) Iswara.
I am from KL and my mechanic is in KL but haven't sent
the car to him yet coz not yet time for the major
service.
The Vectra looks pretty cool but is beyond my budget
as yet. Maybe the next car. Good luck in searching for
your Vectra.

recently bought one in yellow color (96) and it is so
sporty. He said it is a better car than his Camry 2.2
which he has used for a few years (only his personal
opinion though) and that's why I buy one as well.

alternate mechanic to Europel, will let you know when
I obtain the car. I actually bought a Haynes repair
and service manual manual just in case it would be of
some use. BTW, what's the mileage when you got your
Astra?

from Pg. to Kl.Recently he bought himself Toyota Altis
(1.8).Surprisingly,he said it's tiring to drive Altis
to Kl.Any comment on this. For me it's better to buy a
second hand Vectra that cost half less than Altis......

Could you give me the contact and address of Peter? I
would like to pay him a visit. Does he carry TECH1 or
TECH2 diagnosis tool?
The only reason why we go back to Europel is because
we have no choice. Nobody else has the diagnosic tool.
So it is always nice if we can have alternative
mechanic where we can go to. Thanks undertaker and
hope to see your posting soon.
