Hello jhoong.....dont exactly know about the reliability of the Kangoo.
But few guys told me it's a good car, although the shape is a bit unique.
And since TC (Tan Chong) took over the renault dealership (they're going
to invest RM40 million), maintenance would be easy la I guess. You can
even drive outstation without worries...

thanks redzuanroy for the reply. called nissan yesterday, the salesman
said now everything is not yet in place. still progressing on the nissan-
renault exchange i guess. the kangoo will be assembled by TC end of next
year, but don't know if by then the quality will be better or not.

as of now i guess the kangoo is the safest muv below rm80k money can buy.

well, let's hope to hear more from kangoo fans / owners out there!

Borrowed a Kangoo automatic and found it to be a very pleasant little car.
Well...not so little actually. I managed to transport a dining table and 4
chairs (all assembled already) and move a 29 inch TV with ease.

Safe it is. 2 airbags in a car like this is great! Plus it has ABS and
some other stuff too. Perfect as a second car. Or even first car. Ride
comfort is great (so French), handling is great (French again). And the
space available is phenomenal - its huge inside! Like a playpen for the
kids at the back.

It could do with a little more performance, but as it is...its OK. It'll
do what its intended to do nicely. The manual version I've heard is quite
powerful for a 1.4 engine. The automatic gearbox I drove was quite nice.
Don't expect it to storm out at traffic lights, but once its on the move,
its quite good actually. Gear changes are quite smooth, there seems to be
almost no lag - like a manual gearbox.

A great little car...not so little really.

Logic will tell me that the Kangoo may not be cheapest to maintain
compared to the City and Vios. It is afterall a CBU car from Europe and
the Euro is pretty high now. I agree that maintenance is an important
aspect of car ownership, but its not the only aspect to consider. For me,
I look at comfort, ride and handling and importantly SAFETY - very
important for a family car. (Seen too many accidents in my lifetime).

What you need to do is decide what you want in a car. How important is
each criteria you look at and then compare it with what each car can
offer.

The Kangoo wins if versatility, space and safety are a priority. It rides
exceptionally well and handles like a true French car - great stuff.

The Vios G is the most expensive of the lot. But you get Toyota quality
and a pretty nice looking car that performs well too. Good aftersales
backup as well.

The City....I think, personally, is ugly. I mean...the Kangoo may not be
the prettiest thing on our roads these days, but at least it has character
that is endeering over time. But its popular now so rest assured you'll
get better resale value when you decide to sell it off.

(Between the City and the Vios, I'd go for the Vios anytime)

I don't know the Matrix well to make any comments. Its cheap that's for
sure. But not sure of the maintenance costs. Maybe not so cheap, I heard.
Don't like its looks, and from the test reports I've read, it ain't
anything special. Not my kind of car. Better to go for a Scenic if I'm in
the market for a smallish MPV.

So...you have to decide. Smile
