For specific details it would be best for you to join the Renault Club
Malaysia Yahoo Groups and ask the Espace owners there but generally from
most of their
post over there, maintenance is very much on the higher end. Basically
you`ve got to look at it this way. Buy an Espace for RM 50k and standby
another RM 40k for maintenance. Therefore all in all your budget has to
be at least RM 90k to own an Espace. On the other hand, you could get an
Estima for RM 100k but maintenace will be slightly cheaper than an Espace
so end of the day it works out to be about the same. Don`t get an Espace
if your budget is only RM 50k as that amount of money is only enough to
purchase the MPV but not maintain it and keep it going. But if your
budget permits and you`re willing to bear with its "moods" every now and
then, an Espace would indeed be a wonderful vehicle to drive as its
comfort and performance is a class above the rest.

hi,
i suggest you have to learn something from the limo drivers. they drive it
eceryday. all are the same except high roof model and runs on NGV. else,
all are the same espace. just rebadged and seats modified for taxi runs.

buying at 50k spare 40k for maintanence is over exaggerating, the
maintanence is only slightly higher IF you know where to do it. if you go
to tan chong than it is expensive, which is the same as honda toyota naza
and even proton, the service center fees are higher. parts also
reasonable. there are some older version of espace 3 out there that
reaches 300km or low milage but not maintain, try to avoid this.

Mr Mao, I'm currently driving an Espace for the past 5 years. I bought a
used 98 auto model which until today still evokes some kind of fondness in
me over the exterior and also it's comfort driving. I've been maintaining
my car on a normal basis e.g. oil, filer change, etc. There were no major
problems with the exception that I have to change my petrol gauge a couple
of years ago. My colleague also owns one and he shares the same opinion as
I. A 98 onwards model is OK. Spares are a plenty as this model is also
used as a limo for airport transfers. My only complain is that the tip of
my gear shift seems to have crumbled due to our hot weather. Otherwise
everything is working fine.

hi again,
abouth the tip of the gear knob, you got the same problem with us driving a
peugeot, citroen, alfa or fiat. they doesnt seem to be really stand to our
hot and humid weather. i just replace them with similar shaped alloy gear
knobs. it will last forever, only hot for a while when parked in the sun.
but a steel ones are lot harder to get acclimatise to change of
temperature. get those alloy ones, they cool down faster. and they look
cool too.

Hi Mr Mao,
I heard one of my fren being offered by a car dealer for his 1997 espace
less than 10K. Dunno its condition. He rather keep his espace for that price.

My preffered taxi limo driver has an Espace high roof (NGV) and the taxi
model he bought seems quite ok engine wise, but interior stuff like
dashboard meter cluster needs changing as the clear plastic lens were
deteriorating. Somewhat like fogged up and he can`t find a spare.
I`ve seen the new Espace in Amsterdam and it looks very good. A lot of
people buy this model. I dun see any Pug807 and Cit C8 but yes, a couple of
Fiat UlyssesII on the Nederlands streets. I can say 80% of the MPVs there
are Espace (latest model). Even saw a Vel Satis (spelling) there too and of
course a couple of Multiplas (hehe) and Cit Picassos (old and new).
Well, the Espace WAS the MPV of all time!

hi,
hmm quite peculiar la nederland. no toyota estima lipas, alphard, harrier,
and elgrand? really? many fiat ulysse II(great car this one). u know that
espace is the mother of all european mpv. so it is natural for espace to be
there, for so long time. the other ones comes later. so are the japanese.
no wonder la they are so much in nederland. those this got to do with legal
drugs being sold there? hehehehe
