guys, i am looking for NGK PFR6B sparkies for my Boxer 1.7. have checked
around...seems like the shops don't carry them. so, are there any other
suitable brands/models besides the manual recommended NGKs? thanks for the
helpBig Smile

have you tried getting it from ms sprint or glory at jalan ipoh, they
normlly have stock. avoid golden lodge as it get hotter faster than NGK.
further more, it doesn't last long compared to NGK - 50k km vs 100k km.

Boxer engine recommended Golden Lodge, hot plug better for boxer,

NGK PFR6B - yes can go for 100km,
but u can change it (Golden Lodge)the times u replace timming belt at 45K
or 50K km, its not difficult to replace it, no like V6 engine

manual says :
boxer 16v - NGK PFR6B - replace every 100k km
boxer 8v - Lodge 25HL - replace every 40k km

don't get the wrong one for your boxers.

hi abool146...thanks again for your help....mine is the 1.7 16 valve boxer
and as the manual says, NGK PFR6B. golden lodge is for the 8v boxer. so,
do i still go for ngk or golden lodge? i was told that if i know the heat
range/electrode for the ngk pfr6b, then i can use other makes with
similiar properties! prob is i don't know what are the compatible
makes/models!

Not much info from NGK site, other than to maintain the electrode gap
0.7mm. If you can find out the heat range which is similar to PFR6B,
perhaps you can give it a try. Hey, some people even use Iridium for their
boxers.

I’ve been using PFR6B since day one (don’t have the courage to mess with
the engine) and have so far covered 225k km, without major problem.

I`ve been using golden lodge since day one. bought at ms sprint around
RM12/pc. Replaced every 40K. Seems ok. Dont know what to say lah. I just
use the parts that recommended by all the boxer`s owner. Every 40K u have
to change your timing belt so why not u change spark plugs as well. Go
for the golden lodge.Big Smile

golden lodge is for the 8v boxer 1.6 and ngk pfr6b for the 16 valve 1.7
boxer, according to the manual. is your boxer the 1.6 or 1.7? btw, found
out that the ngk iridium bkr6e1x (6418) is compatible to the ngk pfr6b.
perhaps will consider the irridium!Big Smile
