Have to disagree with you Citronking. The Golf GTI, at least the WALD
tuned version with 240bhp yields a lot more fun than the standard REX (of
course I dont mean the STi which is in another price bracket altogether).

The Golf GTIs in Malaysia are brought in by WALD. They have 2 versions,
the std VW GTI with 200bhp and the 240bhp WALD tuned GTI - basically a
different ECU. The std GTI feels fast but the WALD tuned GTI is
ridiculously fast. You will find yourself with a silly grin if you go
drive the car. For a FWD, it has very little understeer. You actually
have to do a lot to get the car to understeer. Handling is phenomenal and
built quality and NVH is fantastic. Car feels firm but not hard on the
18"s.

The WALD tuned GTI is going at RM240K with the DSG gearbox which changes
gear almost as fast as the F1 cars becos it has 2 gearboxes. One for
gears 1, 3, 5 and the second for gears 2, 4, 6. That way, while you are
flooring the throttle in 1st gear, the ECU will pre-select the 2nd on the
other gearbox so that when you upshift, it merely switches over to the
other gearbox and it repeats the process from 2nd to 3rd to 4th and so
on. No lag, no clutching in and out like the selespeed system. Go drive
the car and you will understand why the Golf is the ultimate hot hatch!

JL, so are you still looking for some waterfish whom you are gonna buy his
1-year old WALD Golf GTi from yet? Heard your last attempt trying to
convert the isotank into one, fell flat on its face. Good luck in your
search Big Smile
