rebuilds or ports rotary engines.
Could someone please shed some light on this area? I've searched the forum
before and came up with only one result, ... that there's a rotary
workshop in Penang, but I don't know anything about its
workmanship/reputation.
Any information will be much appreciated.

The centres in Penang are really not up to par. Believe me coz i
was from Penang and the last time i serviced my car at the supposedly
rotary expert my engine died. In KL look for Ah Choy in Kelana Jaya. If
you need to get there give me call and we can go together. Me car is there
pending a rebuild. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the informative reply. Sad to hear that your RX-7's engine
died, though a rebuild will fix it up just as good (stuck a turbo in it
or do a port while your at it ^^)
The thing with rotary, they really need a qualified expert to fix it up,
not some dodgy mechanic. Spare parts are hard to come by, and they
usually take a while and cost so much.
Any other qualified rotary workshops in Malaysia? Or are they really
scarce? Thanks Sukhdev.

I managed to get a 2002 280hp engine. Popped it in and now
waiting for the car to get painted. There are about 4 really good rotary
specialist in malaysia. I know of two in kl and 2 more in JB. When i say
good it means they know what they're doing.
Cheers.

noisy ... especially when you port it. But damn man, 280HP is a lot in a
RX, talk about a pocket rocket =D
Hopefully it won't be cop bait, ... or else you'll be giving out a lot
of "duit kopi" man =D
Btw, do you have the website URLs for those 4 companies your talking
about? Or any contact details? I tried Googling but couldn't come up with
anything.
Thanks Sukhdev

Ah that's good then ... they better still be around in the next few years
when I need a rebuild/swap.
And is that your 2nd Gen. RX-7? Pretty sweet car and 500HP? What are you
up to eh, ... trying to launch yourself to the Moon? =)

Most of them workshops do not have websites. You'll be lucky if
they can speak english at all. The guy that i go to is so far the best of
the lot. He does not kill me with pricing plus he does a very good job. I
have had no major complaints so far. Lets see if this lasts.

Your kidding! Kinda expected that ... I'm SOOO gonna get ripped up if I go
see them then =(
Hope they do last, or else I guess I'll have to learn to do the
repairs/tranplants myself. Just afraid if I bring one home from Australia,
I'll be stuck with a dead car with no one to service, though I can always
get a brand new rotary engine before I ship it home.
Oh well, will definitely you in mind when I need help. Thanks for the
advice Sukhdev =D
