Hi guys! I'm kinda new to this whole scene here, not only in mazda but
cars in general.

Actually, I'm intending to get my first car soon, still kinda undecided
between getting new or 2nd hand. But with my tight budget, there won't be
much choice for new cars anyway so I'm just exploring the options for 2nd
hand cars.

Happen to stumble upon the Mazda Astina, have pretty good impression bout
this baby so far. But I would love to hear from the proud owners on this,
mind sharing your exoerience with a newbie here?

I just need a basic car that gets me to places, some occasional outstation
trips, that's about it. Is there anything I should be on the look-out for
if I'm gonna get a 2nd hand Astina? Prices are so attractive... Big Smile

I owned a white colour Astina since 2 months ago. This is a
1992 car, I purchased it for RM21000 only and paid in CASH.

Being a used car, I had expected problems during the inspection of the
car prior to purchase. In my case, the car is almost "perfect" except for
minor stuff like Central locking, "front signal light and courtesy light"
not working. All fixed with the expense of the Dealer.

Driving the car has been particularly enjoyable. The ride and handling,
interior "Smell" and features reminds me of my dad`s 1990 TX3 1.8. The
engine is very quiet at normal traffic speeds but noisy when pushed.

At this stage, the awareness that u are driving a low slung, power
kicks in as the engine strains a little to get the car to the
acceleration you require.

The previous owner of my car had taken care of the car well. I am very
satisfied in terms of the condition of the car in that sense. The car
is "imported" from Kuching, hence "QKB" double digit no plate. Being a
Kuching car, the Mileage is 150000kms.

Disadvantage(S)?
- The car is SO LOW that it struggles (Scraped the ground) going over
bumps and potholes.
- Blind spot visibility is VERY bad no thanks to XXL Pillar btw rear door
and tailgate.
- Low rear door opening (many of my passangers` head knocked against the
door "arch".

Performance? 0-100km/h in 11secs (as tested in Highway Malaysia). As a
comparison Wira 1.5(M) goes 0-100km/h in 10.7s.

By the way I`m based in Petaling Jaya.
