How much diff approximately are the price diff in parts for the 8V and 16V?
Let's say timing belt replacement...

I'm on an 8v now and yes, the maintenance is pretty low for a conti. Might
be considering a 16V if it decides to blow up one day... but all depends on
whether I can afford the shopping wallet!

You're a genius Ken! What amazing discoveries. Amazing theories. Amazing
suggestions. Ending with an amazing invitation to race. You're really
brilliant lah. Clown

What can I say? Wasted money on half-cut and parts I cannot use. Wasted
engine that doesn't match ECU amd gearbox. Cannot hit 240kmh. Maybe even
less power than before. What a lousy deal for a transplant. Of course lah
my 16V cannot compare or compete with your Xantia. High specification
model; GT wing providing massive downforce, more stickers than a F1 car,
big wheels, sports seats, Stromberg etc. I will lose for sure! Clown

wallace,
I've changed timing belt, bearings, water pump, crankshaft pulley, all
mountings, all oil seals on engine and gearbox, gearbox filter, ATF fluid.
Parts and fluids about $1500. Cost is subjective depending on what you
would prefer to replace/renew. Expect to standby $1K during engine
conversion for such little jobs. Currently using Elf 10W40 semi-synt engine
oil. Will be having a TT soon with a couple other Xantias and 16V friends.
Do come by, can chat more technical stuff and can see whats done.

sam,
Easier conversion job on the ZX as it doesn't require hydraulic components.
Timing belt kit of course costs alot more than 8V engine. Expect $350 for
the kit (belt and 2 bearings) excluding oil seals and water pump. This is a
60,000km job so you won't feel the pinch.

wow...rm350 for a timing belt kit for a twin cam engine fitted to a car
which cost more than a 100K when new is sure damn bloody
cheap....somemore can last 60,000km...that is a lot... yea price is more
than twice of the 8V.

much cheaper than some of the Japanese twin cam engines out there or
about the same. as a non related comparison Alfa twin spark twin cam
engines cost about rm720 inclusive labour change every 40K kms or
less, honda B16 series engine about rm300 plus plus, the ancient Alfadana
also about less than 1K but that's a V6 motor.

looks like the 40616V motor is an affordable option after all. anybody
knows how much the following parts (406 16V):

1. coil pack
2. pulley
3. water pump
4. hydraulic lifters should they fail...not sure if they do or not.
