Oh yes. definitely.

It depend on what you are looking for. If you are to compare between xtd
& petrol I don't think rm2000 per year (minus-minus maintenance then
probably rm1500 per year) justified the different.

Well after all like I said it was just my long gone obsolete case which
does not represent others xantia at all. So suit yourself & best of luck.

cheers.

Petrol engine Xantia ain't that bad as rumours have it. Its just like most
2.0i engine with automatic gearbox. I get between 250km to 280km on 30
litres of fuel mostly urban driving on my 2.0i auto. Should be better on
long distance highway driving but can't resist to floor the pedal thus
burns more fuel.

Xantia's rear windscreen is tinted even on locally assembled models. See
the manufacturer name on top center of glass. Its always either PPG,
Sekurit or Simplex. Front windscreen and door glasses which are made by
Sekurit are lightly tinted. All locally assembled gets MSG glass front and
sides.

The CKD Xantia here are not equipped with Hydractive option. Just the
standard non-computer controlled Hydropneumatic suspension. Hydractive are
those models with Sport/Normal button. Its not just insignificant, its
unavailable. Yes it still rides supple and floaty.

you
said, fuel consumption is the Other reason why u looked for diesel in the
1st place, since ur experience with Saga 1.5 auto. the saga "makan
minyak"
also. honda city (the latest model) is very fuel efficient/economy, but
it
is absolutely out of yourmy reach.

what is the first reason?

so, with hydropneumatic, there will be no body roll? as good as
hydractive, right? sorry la to drag this suspension issue on and on cos i
just don't believe "they" take away the hydractive suspension for the sake
of cost...chehh

one last thing. i'm living in Semenyih (near Kajang). can anyone recommend
good mech and parts shop nearby, ie in Kajang (15 minutes away) or Puchong
(45 minutes away) or Seremban (30 minutes away) or anywhere? as long as
he/them/the shop is good wit reasonable price, i'll try to make it to see
him/them/the shop.

last but not least, thank you all for the answers and comments and i hope
to share my experience with soon-to-be-mine '99 1.9TD.

Still have body roll. Obviously can't get soft supple ride and no-roll in
one package. The Sport mode in Hydractive firms up the suspension for
stiffer ride and less roll when you want it. Non-Hydractive (ie. the one
you're getting) is fixed at 'Soft' permanently. If you'd have test drove
the TD you'll know how it feels like.

Check out the list of workshops and parts supplier at this link.

robgan, sorry for not answering earlier. my 1st reason to choose xantia is
the suspension. malaysian road condition being unfriendly makes me choose
xantia. other reasons include: cheap yet very good quality built car,
space, diesel green engine, looks good, did i say suspension?, european,
citroen being the winner of the latest WRC 2005 and so on...

too bad the salesman is reluctant to give me test drive when i saw the '99
yesterday. his reason being the shop is next to highway, and there was an
incident where a test driven car was hit by incoming car just as soon as
leaving the shop. is this bad sign? should i still consider this shop? it
is quite hard to find a good condition (internal and external) xantia.

just a quick one. in hydractive, i saw that when a person enters a car,
the suspension adjust to original height. this will go on until the door
is closed and ready to roll. is it the same in hydropneumatic?

adibonsu,

Please share your experience, I am also itching to get one XTD. The only
thing holding me back is the fear of whether I can afford the maintenance
costs. I am so used to the cheap maintenance on my Wira. Big Smile

Anybody roughly provide the maintenance costs per year on the XTD?

Adibonsu,

Is the price really good? Nowadays you can test almost any car (except
brand new waja or whatever coming from proton salesman ofcourse). Very
difficult to know the condition of used car unless you can test drive
it.

If he don't let you test, then walk away. Probably something wrong with
it. Go for another one, don't know whether ppooven or RobertNg have sold
their TD or not. Those are in much better condition.
