Well .. today on the highway it was pouring cats and dogs .. i was
travelling around 60-70kmh only .. when i was nearing the Gopeng exit ..
my fan belt just went snap .. i lost control of my car it went left and
right a few times .. did a spin and crashed into the drain on the side of
the highway :(

and this is after i just serviced my car and changed the wheels and
things too .. now my front bumper is ruined .. and my wheels are bent ..
so its a painful sight :( ..

so i suggest :P when its raining heavily :P drive less than 60 :P

noises from my car (I know for sure the japanese made car have those
irritating kiiiit-kiiiit-kiiiit sound but how about citroen?

tanhb, regarding the auxillary belt or "V" belt on your 1.8, can see
whether it has became hairy on its edge or crack line (harden) on bending,
can ask the mechanic to check on your next service.

The belt is driven by crank shaft pulley, if the pulley is origin type, its
inner rubber ring may crack after ~5 years.

I have repalced all the above including plastic rollers/pulleys.

my car in the workshop now :( ..

after some a few checks .. engine oil compartment is cracked .. steering
rod broke which somehow or other stabbed through some other things ..
underneath body work gone in and stuck against the axel .. front
headlights and spotlights are all gone :( ..

i still don't know what went wrong .. i was going 60-70kmh on the slow
lane .. but it just locked up for some reason ..

and maybe water has gone inside the engine also .. so might have more
problems there .. pistons etc :( one bad thing about lowering your car ..
when there's a flood .. can say bye bye :(

Tong,

I had changed the the rollers after making loud noise but the mechanic
says the belt still 0rite. My mileage now is 102K.

Thus dunno can it last until next year or >140K??

Anyway, will ask them to check next service

Thanks

sevenhks... you were travelling at 60-70km/h or mph? or 160-170km/h? at that speed
cannot kena so bad lar... i've had belt putus without problems at all... unless it was
timing belt then can't say much... or even a jammed water pump... then
understandable... but belt putus if alternator belt or aircond belt... shouldn't affect so
much... you'll just have a heavy steering wheel and hot-cond...

so if the car seized and wouldn't respond then sure... the timing belt caused it...
anyways... hope that you're ok... as for the car... well... good luck ler... claim insurance
lor...
