Tested Honda city this morning at the PJ showroom. However, due to the
road condition & traffic flow, I only managed to test drive for one round
& at maximum speed of 80KM/h

Below is my comment compare to my ZX 1.8:

Power & Torque:

From the brochure, The power output for City is at only ~ 88hp compare to
ZX1.8 @ 103bhp. City also loose out to ZX1.8 on the torque (actual pulling
power) i.e City=131Nm@2700rpm Vs ZX1.8 @158NM@3000rpm (ZX2.0=123bhp &
179NM@2750rpm.

During test drive, noted that City has a better pick-up (1st gear up to
2000rpm) compare to ZX. However once reaching 2000rpm, the car littlebit
sluggish and takes longer period to reach 80km/hr. At this point ZX is
better>>zoom to 120Km/h effortless.

Noise, vibration & sound:

From the door insulation, can see that both passenger side & door side is
padded with soft rubber (Citroen only at passenger side).- 1st impression -
Citroen might be losing to Honda.

However during the test drive can hear clearly the Engine pick-up sound
which is worst than ZX/ Nissan (although city sound is much better than
waja - Nissan is the best in term of noise in compartment)

Vibration- Almost the same as my ZX - but the new unit on City atleast
don't have the minor plastic rattling sound from dashboard, doors & back
board of my ZX (I think normal for a 4 year old car - yet to change the
bottom engine mounting)

Suspension:

City- Too hard!! goin thru few potholes and can feel the hard bumpiness of
this car. Now I can understand why Citroen is the best in this category-
soft & smooth like flying carpet(Provided that u change ur lower arm
bushes & absorber mounting- I changed those things in stages since last
year - although my ZX still cannot beat Xantia-lah!)

Handling- Dunno-lah! no steep corner to try. I think ZX is the best in
this category comparing to so many fast & sharp corner going down Genting
& after the Ipoh tunnel- No other cars (Non-modified suspension) can go
120KM/hr going down Ipoh tunnel without feeling of fear & no need
continous braking- just like I did on my old Wira at only 80km/hr). This
is the best part about Citroen with its self-steer system- (Still Dunno
why new C3 adopt the City rear suspension system)

CVT transmission Vs old mechanical ZF 4hp14 autobox:

City- something new here- Come with the latest manual mode with 7 speed!
Even the new Citroen C3 manual mode only having 5 speed! - But after
tested- seem like useless-lah better use auto mode coz dunno when to
change gear!! (I think this type of technology is catching up fast with
other cars in future- feeling of F1 driving (Must thanks Alfa Romeo for
their Selespeed technology)

Power steering:

City First impression -very very light! lighter than ZX & comparable with
my old Wira - feeling insecure. According to the salesman, once power
pickup at high speed, the computer will slowly adjust the power steering
and make it tighter?? dunno how true.

Other accesories/ space:

City storage area- Damn huge!! with 500 litre wow. Boleh muat 2 big size
ppl inside it!! Too bad- ZX space is soo limited. ZX even lose even with
its innovative foldable rear seat- City now also got-mah!

The rear sitting position for City & ZX almost the same - small & narrow-
Problem for big size ppl!! In this - Waja/Sentra/Civic are the best...

.............................The End...........................

Yeap, after test drive the city, appreciated more on ZX except for the new
car feeling ( no rattling sound) and the 7 speed CVT tech not available in
zx.

all this new technology is wonderful(i.e. CVT), it would be even better if
it is long lasting. as you would probably know, new things always have
bugs... of course something like the transmission better not breakdown so
easily!

CVT has been around for ages. It isn't exactly new. Only that recent
improvements made to the electronics controlling the CVT have made it
possible for the gearbox to be applied to high powered cars. All new
automatic Audi models are using CVT now. Many others are following suit.

Normal autoboxes also break down too, don't they? Smile

i think it's not a matter of whether or not they break down... but rather a matter of the
cost of repair and who can repair it... heheh... as you can see the Audi gearboxes when
they break down... costs a bomb to repair or replace... heheh.. so happy new year if it
happens lar...

The Honda Shitty is a butt ugly car, with looks only a mother could love.
The reason its popular here is that its the cheapest way to joining the
Honda Owners Club.

I've been in one, but have yet to drive it. The interior is cheery
though, with bright colored materials. Its very refined, you can hardly
hear the engine. The best thing about the ride was that you couldn't see
how the car looked from the outside.
