Today I just poured (actually sucked out) 40 litres of v-power from my 16v.
So dissapointed. I'va always used shell and so have my parents (for
decades). It used to be good but not anymore.
Last Saturday, filled 'her' up with v-power and from the first pedal push
there was loss of power, engine felt strained and fuel consumption,
horrendous. So finally today (cannot tahan anymore) decided to induce
vomitting using a plastic pump 'thingy' and siphone the fuel out. As soon
as I finished draining the fuel, the plastic pump simply cracked in three
different places...as if the fuel had dissolved the plastic. I'm no
chemical engineer and probably this is a normal chemical reaction but it
does bring out the paranoia in me...imagine the effects on my fuel line
and such.
Then filled her up with our local fuel (not minyak sawit) and the car was
back to normal.
I hope shell would look into this matter. I'm sure they can improve.
I've also heard of similar stories from my sister, friends and co-workers.
For the moment, I'm switching over to our local brand(s).Malaysia boleh...

wow...that is really something...didn;t know that a car can be so
sensitive to fuel type...

anyway, don;t have good impression on Shell...no power, lots of rattle on
my satria....esso synergy is just fine for now...have not tried petronas
though...

is it really that bad? i've been using shell slykron lately and find that
it's still ok... i havent' used V-power in over a year now... and i dun
find any point in using it either... also what i was told is that V-power
has a very high evaporation rate and therefore you should only fill up how
much you need to use for that period... if you are gonna use Rm10... then
fill RM10 for V-power... what i've heard is that those tankers leave the
refinery with additional V-power in the tank and by the time it reaches
the petrol station for transfer... it has evaporated below the max level...

also V-power has high concentrate of detergents and is very highly
corrosive... that is why i have warned you guys NOT to use V-power...

i've stuck to my sylkron and it seems to serve me pretty well these
days... with good mileage and all... Projet lasted about 6-7months before
the consumption increase... likewise Synergy-F1.... but power is there
ler...

sylkron lacks sufficient power but is smooth... so i kinda enjoy the
smoothness more than the power jerk... hehehe getting old...

Thanks for the reply guys.
I do admit that had always used sylkron (cheaper!) before and have not
used v-power for
some time. I suspect that v-power is not selling well with resultant low
turnover thus what`s left is `old` fuel.

today tryout V-power "dengan was was" ... but i think better than
Sylkron...and it is more powerful...but almost the same with Synergy
F1...so i guess rather stick with Synergy F1 then, cost same power and 15
sen cheaper per L, but definately the V-power is much more powerful than
Sylkron in my esperiance.

spygame,

I think it is not the brand but the filling station itself...there were
cases where the owner or sometime the fuel tanker has adultrated the
petrol to make extra profits......(this is a possibility)

just tell us which station so we can avoid it like a plaque...

Xan,
I think that is just a hoax ler......how can do that to your petrol
station..

However, by my experience for 37L (RM50.00+/-)

Shell Silkron: Not actually claim as better mileage in the ads...still
300+/- Km....however, you feel that the power in it especially during OHHH
MY Goooood jam... as I don`t need to press the pedal so much.....just the
break and release 90% of the time...

Synergy F1 (exxon-mobile): Agreed with Von, smoother.....you can feel the
smooth in you... it was that kinna feeling...mileage....same

BP: I noticed that the mileage for BP is better, however, you feel a bit
of drag during acerelating.....

Petronas: long time never used since their introduced the PRIMAX that
claim to be better...clean the engine ler....etc...However experience with
my old cub chai also feel alot of drag....and hate that feeling....

Conclution: you your self decide, it your car anyway....it`s your own
feeling that matter.... same like Pepsi and Coca-cola.....some said pepsi
is better....some said it too sweet....some said coke is bitter...some
said that`s is the real coke taste....so depend on your own....

me dua sen aje babe............

but then Spygame,
you are too un-environmental friendly ler....do you know that you can get
a fine for pouring gasoline or oil into the drain......
and.......think of our children....we don`t inherited this planet.we just
merly taking care for our children

spygame,

after ur experience, i started using petronas.

better not take the risk. I think swapping petrol brands once in a while
is good. Dun let the engine be addictive to one brand only.
