Visited Cosplus (Kepong branch) no Labour Day as I though of installing a
reverse sensor for my ZX.

Reached there and saw only a few cars and was happy since no queue.
Enquired about a reverse sensor and was offered one at RM95 before
instalation cost.

Asked me what car I drove and said a ZX. That's when the blank look
started. Went to my car and began knocking on my rear bumber and
said "Boss, your bumber got a steel in the middle, cannot install lah,
too difficult to drill" Suggested installing below the bumber which I
remarked (and they agreed) it was too low.

So, it the end, did not manage to install the reverse sensor. Anyway,
was told later that Cosplus mainly does Proton's and Jap cars. No
knowledge of Conti cars as a few common friends also encountered similar
problem. Always say cannot do or no stock.

Any of you face similar problems before. Any suggestions as to where and
how much I need to install a reverse sensor. Was told that a decent
Reverse Sensor should cost RM200+. The RM95 cannot last long.

Thanks in advance.

Never think of installing one. I had one in my old wira- ccomes with the
car- Always gave false beeping & damn irritating- At last - Just pull-out
the cable and car runs better without the irritating beep-beep-beep!

why in the world would you want a reverse sensor for?

anyways just to clarify a few items here... there is absolutely NO PIECE OF METAL in the
bumper of the ZX... never has been never will be... unless you DIY.... here's a brief of the
construction of the bumper... it is in actual fact made up to two pieces stuck together...
the main portion being what you can see from the outside... this is actually like a cover
for the next layer... the inner side is made of a type hard of plastic that is
obviously smaller than the cover. That plastic looks generally like a piece of cheese that
you see in cartoons... all holy and stuff... this is in a way riveted (using a type of plastic
rivet) to the outer cover and has two brackets that hold it to the chassis.... how i know
all this... well i had my bumper ripped off before...

but dun bother with the reverse sensor... makes the car look terrible... instead why not
just improve on the parking technique... aren't there enuff headaches in the ZX
already...? heheheh

Hi Dereklaw,

Wish I had read your thread earlier...had exactly the same problem with my
ZX but at Cosplus Serdang yesterday. They said it's the first time they
fixed on a Citroen. End of the day...had my money refunded...but the round
hole remains at the lower part of the bumper.

Had to buy a pair of square reflector to cover it up.

Dereklaw, did u manage to get the sensor fixed at other place.

ouch... so, protoneer... you pulled a classic "HALIMMO" (the 'lau chiaos'
[old birds] will understand what this is all about...) and fixed a couple
of reflectors there eh...

Vonnig,
Would like to ask you whether the rear bumper could be adjusted as mine
has a gap in between and was told by the guy who did the touch up respray
that he could not adjust it. My front bumper also suffers the
same ,athough both gaps are not big but nevertheless would like it to be
flushed looking if possible

can't adjust ler... the front one is more adjustable that the rear cos the
rear ones attach itself to a bracket with a fixed hole in the car
chassis... so quite a task unless you buy a whole new bumper...

the front one is adjustable so long as the brackets holding the bumper at
the sides are intact... otherwise... no way bro... also have to change
bumper...

mine all out of alignment already... need to change then it'll be back in
alignment... i'll be buying bumpers next year...

Hmm..seems like an expensive way to correct it. the bumper themselves are
very strong and durable ..its a shame that it can't be adjusted.(i have
got this strange disease that my eyes will only look at the imperfections
on my car and it bothers me that it is not nicely aligned.
Thanks for the quick reply .

oh btw... i forgot to mention that most of my bumper brackets are all
broken from the numerous encounters i've had... the only thing holding up
my front bumpers now are the two main brackets which is they break... well
the car gone liow lor... and the rear ones... have been riveted back... so
it'll never be aligned again... that's why mine has to change...

I may be wrong and there MAY be a way to re-align bumpers, which are more
intact than mine, instead of replacing them... but as far as it is to my
knowledge and from my observation of the bumper structure... i dun think
it's "alignable"... but then again... these panel beating fellas never
cease to amaze me with what they can do... so you can ask around to see
whether or not they are willing to give it a try...
