Wow, I am amazed the amount of support pouring in to protect the image of
Citreon. Wake up and face the reality. We are talking about image issue
and not the quality of the car. I did not say the quality is no good.

Just in case, you have missed out the poiny. Let me illeterate again, that
due to no marketing efforts, sluggish SC, poor training of mechanics, the
car is not on the preferred list of the buyer. The issue of comfort is a
subjective matter. One's man meat is another man's poision, Italian car
users and Germany users say they are the best in comfort. Who is
right???????? Of course, vivid Citroen Owner will always without fail to
say they are the most comfortable car. Just like the slogan like....
making love to lady. Crappy to me on this argument

Further to the earlier thread, I wish to add that Directional has not done
enough in raising the image of Citreon car. Take again the case of Kah
Bintang, they have done well on Honda Car until some guys from DRB Hicom
forced them to sell their stake to them. Kia Bintang moved on to Hyundai
and they done very well in raising the image of Korean cars and everybody
has no hesitattion to buy it. Why??? This is due to good service, spare
part avialble at normal meachnic shops and reasonable price. With these
factors, the success rolls in.

What's wrong with Directional? It has to do with management and the people
managing it. Who are they?? You ask yourselve this question. Directional
has not customers high in thier priorty list. Still slack and "tidak apa"
attiduce. It is a culture issue.

Citroen .Image issue. Let's look it the other way round. these things are
very closely related. One of the reasons is not many in Malaysia KNOWS
how to appreaciate Citroen. They, just like Alfa Romeo requires
specialist touch. not many are willing to spend time to maintain the
cars. that is why the car is not popular. Now, what is the consequences?

I can safely say this is what causing your above mentioned reasons. Of
course , one can look it from your point of view. No doubt about that.
IMHO, the whole issue/success/failure comes from 1 word - demand. if
there is great demand, naturally the service will follow.

The kia/hyundai/Chevy story has already been mentioned above. They make
cheap new cars and everybody buys it. So, the company naturally have the
resources to do the things that u mentioned. Only now, you see Korean car
specilist mushrooming everywhere. Were there any before this?

Just look at Mercedes Benz. No doubt they make good cars, but another
reason to this is mainly attributed to the demand, mainly from those rich
towkehs. people buy Mercedes, most of them are just going for the 3 star
logo.

just my opinion. poor 2nd value makes people like able to afford finer
things in life at affordable prices.

TCP, agreed that directional might not be doing a fabulous job, but i dun
think it's fair to put the blame on the product itself. Yes Directional
should look into a lot of the SC and Marketing matters... but give them
credit as well as they are picking up the pieces and putting it back in
place currently...

IMHO, I as a Citroen dealer would also not try to just flood the market
with A&P n get every tom dick n harry to purchase the car... to me owning
a Citroen is like getting a Rockweiler, if u dun understand them, they
will turn back and "bite" u...

Timting,

I not quite sure on the part you mentioned about the flooding with A&P.
The core objective of getting into car distribution is to make money and
that is coming from demand and not from selling to selected group of
people. Citreon is not Bentley or Rolls Royce. Citreon is more like a mid
range car and if Directional is doing enough publicity and awareness
campaign it will become undesirable car just like Subaru which has
virtually forgotten by the public in Malaysia.

I do not know what pieces that Directional is picking up. Any improvement
in service centre? Today, a simple jobs still require a whole day job at
SC. The technical staff are so incomptence that they can tell u to leav
th car for a few days for three simple jobs.

Lets not kidding ourselves into believing that thing will improve. If
Directional is serious in creating value for Citroen, they could have
improve a lot things by now. It is down to the management culture and the
people running the operation. Put it this way, if Directional is a
privately held company and owner driven, it will be different ways of
doing things. More customer oreintated and quality driven.

I dare to say that if the franchise is held by say Kia Bintang, the car
will be a success and our poor Citreon owner will not suffer so much
depreciation in value and they don't have to say other things to justify
owning Citreon car such as comfort, special, and all sorts of exercuses.

Muffdiver,

Not to antoganise you but the reality is that guys have problem selling
your Citroen for a good value. Of course unless you don't want to improve
youselves and stick to the same model forever. Then, you and the car
becomes old junk.

In technical terms, any car owner would like to have a high salvage value
for their car so that they can change to another model of a same brand or
a diferrent brand. Now you have C4 coming, the Citreon fans will
definately wish to change to C4 but how if their present car has such a
lousy resale value. Dropped by 50% value for less than 2 years car whereas
other brand only dropped about 30% to 40%.

So, I am not a guru or anything else but the truth and logic are there.
For so many years Directional has been selling Citreon car and yet there
is still preception issue and service centre is limited and crappy. It
takes no rocket sceintist to notice and understand the situation.
