Dear All,
Recently I bought 2 Osram Silverstar H1 bulb to fit into my ZX 2.0i
headlamps, but not much improvement, then later chack and found there is a
huge voltage dropped on the headlamps.
Voltage level reach at the both the headlamps has dropped about 0.5VDC on
negative terminal and 1.5 VDC on positive terminal, 1.8V drop is too bad, I
must find good quality relays and sockets to shorthen the line. Anyone can
recommend where to buy the good quality automotive relay socket?

Tong, check the wattage on yr new bulbs. If more than the original 55/60W
ones then a new wiring harness is needed. Any how, when i beefed up the
earthing points in the engine bay, the lights went brighter. I was working
on something else and found that earthing was bad and it effected the
lights. If you are going on higher wattage bulbs,i think you already know
what is needed electrically. I did this once and the extreme heat
generated by the 90/100W bulbs within the glass housing actually got the
shinny reflector material to peel off its base.Looking at this, i would
work on 55/60w bulbs.
cheers

Citroen lights are bad and hopeless when it's raining.
if you have the budget, splash RM2000+ and get yourself a HID conversion
kit

phsiau,
Let me get the right component first, I believe in do it right the first time.
puginfo,
the bulbs I bought are 55W, yeah I think our headlamp can't stand the
90/100W of heat. My ZX earthing is not too bad, anyway I will find time to
improve it.
volcane,
you are right!
HID is my ideal choice, but RM2K is too far beyond my budget.
Last time I thought of making a DIY HID, but later found it is too
dangerous on making a prototype and physically it is too difficult for me.
Do you think any late model of other vehicle (used) HID can fit into our
citroen?

you mean from some kereta potong? I thnik it should do the trick as long
as it's a H1 kit and you get the complete ballast set.
however, these kereta potong boys won't be selling such stuff at bargain
prices...anyone checked?
