CR, which corner are you sitting ? Got place for me to sit together ;)
Bro Silver,
Glad to see you online again !
Yes, you are always crazy ... each time after we TT, you are always the
first one to SMS (Smell-My-Smoke) all of us on highway ... hope to see you
tonight TT to hear your exciting stories again !
Guys,
Actually, what are we trying to proof here ah? 16v can do 240km/hr or not ?
If yes, then ? If no, then what ? Is it that important to proof
physically the paper data ?
For me old liao lah ... and my aged 8v also hardly go beyond 160km/hr now .
.. just be extra careful my friends, when you test the machine on public
road ...
Cheers.

Berhati-hati di jalan raya. Jangan terlalu panas darah !
Akibatnya ........kao kao !!
Beats me klcar99 ! I dunno what we are trying to prove here ! I think
someone wanna get a place in Rib-less Believe It Or Not !!
Yeah man ...... speaking abour SMS ..... he's the one always let us smell
SMOKE !! Even the 2 Citroen T-shirt designers' balls shot up to their
throats when Silver16v sent them home after our TT at Awan Besar !
I kena once along the Tmn Bolton road .............. trust me ... for
weeks i couldn't find my balls !!!
CR .... hehehehe...

they arrived the TT at Awan Besar ... as if they were just back from WRC
rally ... looked tire & hairs standing !! so can imagine how hard they
hold-on their balls when traveling back home ....
true enough, you can only understand (and start looking for your balls)
only you personally experience it .... but only IF 1 can survive to tell ..
.. it is not words that can explain those feeling, moments & scene ...
hold on to your balls my friend ... just be careful ....
Cheers.

speed of ZX2.0 16v,

have by now seen quite a bit of info and experience on this topic ranging
from the original specs, effect of power to weight ratios, bhp and torque
and the effect of changing the wheel diam and also some inaccuracy between
actual and dash dial readouts.
Niece try CR, but the dyno can never give you the road speed for the given
fact that the car will see zero wind resistance. On the dyno yr speedo
will still read and that read is the theoretical speed because it gets its
speed solely form the g/box ratio. This theoretical speed can also be
computed on paper by using the g/box and final drive ratios. Don't be
surprised to see fomoco's 68' ford doing 250km/h on it! The proper road
speed can be found by something called the 'wind meter' fixed onto yr side
windscreen (this will take the weight of vehicle, momen and wind drag into
calc).
I understand that test of speed can be very deadly on public roads. For
those 16Vers (may be S16) who want to know what these m/chine will do, i
can arrange a test meet with Ivan Khong, the speed demon himself. He will
show you what the m/chine can do and can't. All you need is Ivan (rasor
sharp at handling)on the steering wheel and an AAM card in yr pocket.
Cheers

in response to some of the above posts...
FYI. i drive a stock standard 16v. standard 15" wheels. only changed the
exhaust system (hotbits), and upgraded the brakes (braided hoses, ebc
rotors with greenstuff pads). only recently added ecotek - special thanks
to silver16v, and additional earthing cabling - special thanks to CR. am
very2 pleased with the two mods. seems to work well with my car.
i did a few "indicated" 240km/h a few times on the KL-KLIA stretch... and
all for more than a few minutes.... once "racing" with an Audi A6 2.4,
once with an e36 328i, and once with an e46 325i. the rest tak ingat. but
my point is it DOES takes a while to touch the "indicated" 240 laaa...
the car is quick to the 210 mark, then slowly creeps to 240... but then
again it`s almost 240, not exactly 240 maa... exactly it only around 238,
like that laa...
but then if im doing an "indicated" 240... then all the evo7, impreza,
330i,coupe 20v turbo doing 250, is also "indicated" maaa! LOL! we need to
check ALL cars then....
but when i see any of these cars in my rear view mirror, i always give
way... RESPECT maaa... it`s called knowing your limits....and "indicated"
250 is still faster than an "indicated" 240... choose ur opponent, its
called. why lawan bila tau sure kalah? nak mampos?
err... both races with the e36 and e46, my 16v kalah. but both cars had
problem distancing away from my 16v. they seem to be creeping slowly away
rather that "zooming" away at "indicated" 225+...
...and that is why i always SMS a satria gti with an "indicated" top
speed of 220...sure win one...! LOL!
...berhati-hati di jalan raya means drive carefully at ANY speed.
sometimes driving at 60 is also dangerous maa... if your doing it at the
highway on the right most lane! but 60 is also safer than 200... so
keyword is BERHATI-HATI!
just my 2 cents

mph (240km/h) is a fantasy.
Citroen claims 137 mph tops for the 16v, but I read two magazines which
did a road test of the then new ZX 16v.
Performance Car-April 92:measured the 16v flat out at 125 mph (slightly
over 201km/h) using their test gear.
Autocar also recorded the ZX16v at no better than 125 mph.
The general verdict was that it was a superb handling car, but not as
quick as it should be.
The cars i stated: The Impreza, Evo 7 and 330i,fiat coupe do 150 mph
genuinely, as proven by independent road tests.
The truth of the matter is, the 16v is not in the same class dynamically
as any of the cars above, nor was it meant to be.
For it to match their performance, and costing over 6 times less is just
to good to be true!

Good point. The operative word here is "indicated".
For what its worth, I too have tangoed with a 328i/Fiat Coupe Turbo and
what not on the highway with my ageing 8 valve.
Of course, I can never hope to pass them, but its fun frustrating their
expensive machinery and egos by staying in their rear view mirrors the
whole way!
Sometimes its more fun being the underdog. While chasing these cars, you
have to use every ounce of your car's performance, and take the corners
carefully so as not to scrub off any speed.
Anyways you have nothing to lose, so don't be ashamed!

prove what our cars can do just to satisfy others curiosity. No need to
run all kinds of technical tests to disprove our opinions, so long as we
ourselves are satisfied with our car's performance. If others want to
satisfy their curiousity, why not buy a 16V themselves and do whatever
exhaustive tests on it to their satisfaction. So long as 16V, heck, even
8V, can keep up or overtake 'better' cars, I say they have proven
themselves. Stock standard may not get to 'perceived' 240 but with simple
mods, they can, as 'proven' by zainal and silver16. Other 16V, what are
your experiences?
