>>> hi all, just an input here. We are not 'arguing' here, just putting
across some facts and how it relates to the real life. Though it may sound
like an attack or may wee bit harsh, in actual its only all the spices
which makes the forum lively.

Take what's good and challenge the odds. Will try not to go into grounding
again here in this tread but what you folks missed out in that area was:

>>> as much as the earthing points deteorate over period of time, so does
the +ve supply leads! think of it as a black box with one incoming lead
and one out going lead. You can work on the outgoing lead -ve but if
there's nothing done to beefup the incoming supply +ve, the black box will
never do what it is supposed to do perfectly....perhaps this has something
to do with halimmo's statement on grounding gains being very subjective
and phycological (better discuss in earthing tread)

cheers

Hi all,

I`m really bz and out of the cyber world in my new office, just started
my new job recently. So no time to read all but just to clarify things.
Here is what i got to say.

Just about a month after i got the car, i drove from USJ to klia 2.00am
just to test the top speed. I managed 227km/h but the traffic does not
permit to go further (witnessed by muffdiver). Location : from KLIA toll
to Petronas near Terminal just after KLIA mosque. At that time i just got
engine oil & sparkplug changed, no modification at all.

Later, I got my zx16v upgraded/added/modified stuff;
1. Performance ECU chip (claimed to give +10bhp)
2. Twin echotech (not sure benefit on bhp but more responsive rpm)
3. 16" rim, tyre 45 (18kg each)
4. Cat removed (claimed give upto +5bhp), Exhaust changed

At this point the 16v can achieve 220km/h on flat road at a shorter
time/distance and i`ve did it several times. 230km/h at Rawang-Ipoh PLUS
highway and i did 240km/h once when i was on my way back from Tol Jalan
Duta to USJ Elite 3:00am but for just few seconds (from exit Damansara to
just a bit further after exit subang), could be the downhill factor!

I don`t intent to do a `RIPLEY`s Believe or not` or `You asked for it`
but just sharing info. Maybe my Speedometer giving wrong reading or
simply my eyes read wrongly.

However, i do plan to dyno my car soon and i`ll share the result later.
OK that`s it from me. Take care, all.

p/s :

Fomoco, i got info about u from your previuos postings that`s where i got
your name Sanjay. Bro, let us all be humble. Ikut resam padi semakin
berisi semakin tunduk ke bumi. Stay cool bro.

Puginfo,
Again I learnt some tech stuff and informative data today.

Talking about speedometer and other meter reading in the instrument panel,
the meter readouts are for driver reference only; never threat it as real
Test Instrument quality. At one time, my rpm meter shown idling at nearly
touching 1000 rpm, but verified with Ah Keong's Elit is only 850 rpm.

Yes, the +ve wiring should have more losses (at least in ZX and Xantia)
coz it goes thru many sockets/switches/fuses and/or practically
insufficient wire size. Some common electrical problems are:
1. Fan-Relay (qty 3) Socket burnt due to bad quality origin relay
socket.
2. Fuse melted in engine compartment fuse box due to loose fuse
socket.
3. In-sufficient starter voltage due to voltage losses in long wiring
+ loose contact in ignition switch.
4. Aircond/Blower not working due to worn-out ignition switch
contacts or loose contact in the bulk head socket fitted in-between engine
compartment and cabin.
5. Dim headlamps.

Fomoco, u wrote:
"does the grounding help in anyway boosting horsepower and
torque?"

It's a joke, don't take it serious.
The "grounding" here help to minimise losses in electrical system,
indirectly make the engine run smoother.

I'm interested in removing the whole ZX dashboard, my 1st attempt for more
than half a day was failed at almost last stage, any special note? I
planned to take 2 days off for 2nd attempt.

Regards,
Tong

there you have it from silver16v but again u know what silver16v, these
bunch of people will not take your testimony for an answer even with me
witnessing your event. Anyhow, go have it dyno-ed and let's put figures to
fact. Better for you ... if not people would say you cakap besar je !

So people of all races and of all C.C., hope to meet up soon at Shah Alam
Giant Car Park on the 11/10/2003 which is our second event. Trust us, it's
gonna be HUGE. And we've had the agendas all planned up very interesting
and you just can't wait to be there. We'll announce the agendas 1 week
before the event.

Cheers and have a great weekend.

basically... what we're doing is arguing our respective points but not
fighting... (but this is not an forum on english so who cares)

anyways... back to the issue at hand... let's see what the figures from
the dyno tests are then we'll know...

tongks... when you remove your dashboard... i wanna be there!!! do you
have the haynes with you for the dashboard removal? i'm sure you missed a
couple of bolts somewhere....

just for a good understanding of what arguing means... arguing means that
it is a statement of fact... same as when a lawyer is arguing his case in
court doesn't mean there is a heated discussion... maybe i should put it
in a more understandable sense... we are DEBATING ( = arguing) the fact...
chill bro... Smile

just a comment.

yes bhp has a lot to do with it. but power to weight ratio does too. not to
forget gearing.

i used to drive 850 T5R with bhp of more than 200. maybe 240bhp (can't
remember exactly). it is not an issue to achive top speed however the volvo
fella put a limiter at 220kmh. so anything more than that is not safe.

on the speedo, yes it is just an indication. it is measured to the box. so
when you changed you rims to bigger size or your tyre the circumference
will differ from the original. thus it is inaccurate.
usually the bigger the rims will result in the car giving an understatement
in its speedo reading.

case in point. i used to own a 2200 german car and was shooded with 17"
rims (pretty light as it is from their performance division). i push the
car to the max. to my disbelief it can only go up to 170kmh and then on
slowly to 180 or 190. what the heck!! all the money for this.
then after few speed traps Shyi realised that the car was actually under
read about 15-20km. so there you go.
nicky can confirm bout this car's weird speedo. oh the previous T5-R too.

just from my experience

Wow...this is bloody long...cool...glad to see people started to state
facts rather than tok basics! Loolks like we have hell lot of experts
here! Silver16v......i just had a doubt coz my other 16v friends said its
impossible to reach 240 but with a word u said it could be wrong and could
be a downhill issue!

Like wat entreri mentioned, the moment the wheel size is changed, the
enire reading will be out! so speedometer reading is way out! my meter
showed me doin 120mph(max in my meter) on my cortina! but hell i was only
doin 100mph! Meters do need calibrations!

Anyway, lets get on.....this is just to clear doubts, not to create a
fight or anything more than that!

Silver16v, how did you know bout the peugeot restorations by my dad??
