Update:

Received my car after approx 4 days in the w/shop. The delay according to
RCB motor work, due to:

1st day: dismantling & Cleaning of valve body (No good-jerking still there)
2nd day: Changing clutches plates which had worned.(Slight jerk still
there- asked to leave another day suspect the overall housing has worn-out
3rd day- Replace the gearbox housing (can consider the whole outer layer
of gear box- still not satisfy - asked for another day to source for a
better housing.
4th day - At last received good news and car sent directly to my house-
That is what I say good after sales service.

Since the price has been quoted to me earlier they so far do not jack-up
the quoted price, but according to them, the actual price is more than
this since the whole housing has been changed.

THe result car pick-up - WOnderful & feeling great- no wonder previously
my car pick-up worst than new honda City!

Gear change damn snooth and no more jerking after sudden stop-- However it
is still too early to tell - until I go for next oil change after ~5000km.

There is no problem giving u the number but just FYI, after reworking
twice on the gearbox in the matter of 1 year..now littlebit sceptical on
them (You might check with kcliew). Sold my ZX after 2nd overhaul & heard
from the new buyer, having problem again...It is easy as wat my mechanic
advice ..go and get a realible 2nd hand unit & replace...One this, any
Citroen reliable mechanic can do it...(Shld hv listen to my mechanic)

There is risk in overhauling gearbox.....if you still interested you can
actually find RGB, M-Sc ope, EH autolink & another new one from Motor
Trader mag (Sometime only)

So, tan, are you using manual gearbox now? Manual gears better maa, more
fuel economy, more power, have better control and more reliable.

Hi Everyone,

Please do not go to RGB motor to overhaul your g/box as I find their
workmanship dissatisfactory. Can call my h/p 0178733699 for details.
Anyway, for a brief description on what they've done to my g/box:
1. RPM not right - they blamed it on the gear meter which has 18 teeth
(while all Citreon Spares are selling 19 teeth), until today still not
solved; Now the speed is 110km/h for around 3250RPM. Not satisfactory at
all.
2. Damaged my drive shaft inner part (RHS)and use ordinary tie clip to tie
up the rubber covers for drive shaft. Everytime there is a leak at the
tyres... bad... Still awaiting for the change.
3. Funny noise coming out from now where. Will send for other reliable
Citreon mechanic for further diagnosis.
4. Gear shift not smooth - need to press on accelerator in order for the
car to move.
5. A little bit of extra noise when slowing down from gear 3 to 2. Funny
sound, still wanted them to rectify until today. Paid RM2500 for their
service and still not solved.

I dun know what others may feel about this shop, but personally, do not
recommend them to perform this task. They talked a lot and act like expect
on Citreon cars. Last time I went there bcs all mechanics are tied up
during last year Hari Raya and it's a wrong timing. Now already more than
half a year and still not solved. Sad... I love my car a lot and now will
screw them very soon, by this Wednesday, if they still did not solve my
problem, wait and see.....

Good luck.
Smile

Thank you everyone for your advise on what not to do.

This is a very sad state of affairs, there is no reliable gearbox
technicians.

From what I learn, the autobox live span is about 7 yrs., this really
sucks! Should have gotten the manualbox version.

Love the car, the performance and the handling, however its reliability can
be rather unpredictable. I have changed almost every conceivable part that
is to be changed and then this problem shows up...

Nothing drives me UP the Wall like a Citroen Frown

hi Guys

Relax there are good technicians/mechanics around.
My auto gearbox said bye bye to me after 8 year of hard work.
You can call this number 012 2150059 (ah Fatt), he is very good in 4HP14
auto gearbox. You should see it youself how he overhaul the gearbox.
However he charged 3.5k-3.8k for the job. If $$$ is not the problem get it
overhaul or else get second hand unit as what I did.

cheers

Unlike manual gearbox where internal parts can be serviced, we've to
really maintain the autobox well. Once broken, best to replace it. I've
known people who went through rounds of repair on autobox and at the end
the only viable solution is to replace it completely. My boss just
replaced his Merc "big small eye" autobox, cost him almost 30k.
Conveniece of autobox comes with a price tag...

Dear guys,
You can check the recent ad for a gear box specialist who gives 1 year min
warranty and even 11/2 years extension if needed, They quoted me 5.5 k for
my zx 2.0 (a) and 11/2 years warranty. They will rebuid the whole box and
not half past job-the owner said. I cannot remember the name now as I am
in a cafe...my com is down. I will post as soon as I can...
Expensive me thinks but some may want to.
