Guys,

I have a small problem regarding one of my Xsara's Radiator Fan.
Currently, one of the fan sometimes is not turnning. I suspect either the
relay or the Fan kaput. I have done some searching in the forum and i
found out Keong auto and Latif auto get the most kudos from the citizen of
citroen nations. Which auto shop i should go for my problem?

Most likely your problem is due to the relay. I have the same problem as
well but when I changed the relay all solved.

hey guys .... been there and done that. at times it's not the relay
eventhough it only cost RM50 each. At times it could be the fan motor. Ah
Keong or Latif ?? Tell you what ... i'v been to both places ... Ah Keong,
well if you go tell him that your fan doesn't move, he'll tell you ... get
a new one ... to test or to replace. If Latif, as his workshop there're
lots of spareparts .. he'll get a temporary to fix for you to use while he
service your current one. That's his style. If can save he'll save for
you. Ah Keong ... he's ok but he doesn't wanna go thru all the hassle as
he's a one man show and he doesn't have time to meddle with such things...
while Latif .. he's got 3-4 workers.

Simple as this ...........

Citroen or Pug good mechanic should be able to do wiring test to isolate
the problem. If they do direct wiring test and the fan is moving, most of
the time is relay problem. Check whether the relay burn/melt. Fuse may not
be a problem as if fuse putus, both fan will not work. Some mechanic just
want to take easy way out by asking you to change the fan. Easily rm250
each and some of the mechanic will say you need to change both. Don't
listen to that crap. Anyway is that, if the fan on left hand site not
working, ketuk the relay. Sometimes contact problem. If okay then you can
use contact cleaner to clean the contact. You can also check with Rosdi
(good in wiring) at 0193264525. If motor is a problem, it can be service
unless really bad.

Thanks guys. Actually this is the second time this happen, i have changed
the relay and fan 1 year ago, and it happen again, same fan. Last time,
the relay melt, but i was told the fan spoilt as well. It cost me well
over RM 500 plus labour to fix it. Actually the fan unit is exactly the
same as the PUG 306. Ah keong told me the recond unit will cost around RM
150 but im not sure how long it will last. Any comment?

I try to call latif but the phone i search in the forum is not available,
anybody has his contact no. ? i plan to fix this problem by this weekend.

AKIMA,

Where is this Rosdi guy??

motorfreak, to my knowledge, Ming Wah should be one of the best place to cure the root of this common citroen problem, i.e.:
1. Change the carbon brush instead of the whole fan motor.
2. Replaced the relay socket instead of keep changing the melted relays.

Both are messy work if yours is 2.0i 8v.

Search back to find Ming Wah's direction. He is one of our mr prez's favourite/highly recommended.

Latif's number - 0193654887 or look for his right-hand man Dino. Cool
guy. If your relay melted before then the problem is the fan. I had the
same incident. Always changing the relay. Becos the fan motor is not
working well therefore the speed between the 2 fans aren't the same
anymore causing the relay to melt ...

Ask Latif he'll explain to you further ...... if you take out the front
grill and notice the fan speed .. you'll know !

Good luck bro.
